    Iran Imposes Sanctions on Themselves

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:10 pm

It turns out we didn’t need to refer Iran to the worthless U.N. and impose sanctions as punishment for Iran’s nuclear program. The mentally unbalanced President of Iran has vowed to impose sanctions on himself by canceling all contracts with countries who published the Muhammad cartoons that led to a “cartoon jihad” across Europe. I hope no one explains to him that this was going to happen anyway. It’ll save us months of debates and political correctness at the United Nations.

The international outcry over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed has intensified as Iran said it would cancel deals with countries in which newspapers had reproduced the images.

The list, which already included Denmark, where the 12 caricatures first appeared last year, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain, expanded Saturday to take in New Zealand and Poland.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ordered the cancellation of economic contracts with countries where the media have carried cartoons of the prophet, the ISNA news agency reported.

The report said the hardline president had ordered the creation of an official body to respond to the cartoons, saying the regime “must revise and cancel economic contracts with the countries that started this repulsive act and those that followed them.”

You have to wonder if Ahmadinejad understands what sanctions are. I guess he could be counting on bribes and deals with the French, Russians, and the U.N.
