Obama’s Cairo Speech Inspires Islamic Group to Give Qurans to US Leaders

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:19 pm

CAIR was so inspired by Obama’s recitation from the Quran during his Cairo speech that they have launched a campaign to give all state and federal leaders in the U.S. a copy of the Quran in English. They say the move is purely educational, and is in no way proselytizing or a campaign or project to convert people to Islam. Sure it’s not. And I’m sure the ACLU will see that way, as well. Christian organizations should organize a campaign to do the same with the Bible, and see how fast the ACLU files a “separation of church and state” law suit against everyone involved. Of course, such a Christian campaign would never happen. Christians are too busy not reading their Bibles, not teaching their kids, and being afraid to contend for their faith. Sad, but true.

Prompted by President Obama’s speech directed to the Muslim world in Cairo in early June, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today launched its “Share the Quran” campaign distributing free Qurans to local, state, and national leaders across the United States.

The organization’s spokesperson said it will also send a copy to Obama and Vice President Biden.

“This is pure educational. I want to make it clear that this is not proselytizing or a campaign or project to convert people to Islam,” said CAIR’s director Nihad Awad today at a press conference. “We want people to be aware and informed about Islam.”

Awad said the idea to gift high-end Qurans ($78 each) to American legislators, law enforcement officers, media leaders, governors, local elected and public officials, was directly inspired by Obama’s Cairo speech:

“We were astonished he quoted the Quran.” Awad told ABC News. “We know it. But I think the majority of Americans have no idea that maybe these quotes are direct from the Quran, they’re unequivocal, and they cover the issues of . . . values we need today, in order to work together, fight extremism and terrorism, and turn the page. And bring the relationship to its rightful position between the American and Muslim world.”

The “rightful position”, according to the Quran, is for Islam to be the only religion on Earth. Bringing this about is to be every good Muslim’s goal. I’d say they are off to an effective start, wouldn’t you? Just look at the number of Sharia courts now established in Britain.

Cap and Trade – The End of Prosperity in America

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 3:13 pm

It looks as if the Cap and Trade (AKA Tax and Trade) bill will likely pass and be signed into law. I wonder how many Americans really know what this portends for their future, and are aware of how much it is going to cost them, not only in dollars, but in their standard of living? If you don’t think it will affect you, consider that one entry in the bill called for the funding and erection of “SHARE THE ROAD WITH BICYCLES SIGNS” with the stated goal of encourage people to drive slower, and preparing drivers to accept the coming bicycle age. The coming bicycle age? Why don’t we just skip right to the stone age? How many of you elderly Democrats, disabled Obama voters, or yuppy liberals who have long commutes to work are ready to start using your government issue bicycle to get around?

It’s not a joke folks. The cost of energy and price of gas are going to skyrocket with this bill. Remember Obama’s campaign promise that he would make us less dependent on foreign oil. It was yet another lie! Cap and Trade will make it more expensive, because of CO2 emission taxes, to buy domestic fuel than to buy from refineries overseas. The bill will actually tax domestic production at a higher rate than Obama’s Arab buddies. The Heritage Foundation’s cost estimate report on Cap and Trade predicts that a large percentage of refineries in the states will be forced to shut down. I would venture to guess this is the reason the Republicans tried to pass an amendment that would end Cap and Trade if gas prices reach $5.00 a gallon. The Democrats voted it down. They admittedly want gas prices and energy costs higher, in order to force Americans to use less energy. Not only do they not care about the millions of jobs that will be lost as our GDP plummets and companies go out of business, they want more power and control over our lives by way of taxing us into government dependency.

Our government is no longer afraid of the people that elect them. As Thomas Jefferson said, “When the people fear the government, you have tyranny. When the government fears the people, you have freedom.” We are living under a tyrannical government that no longer cares how many calls they receive at their offices from angry voters. They fear the threats of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, who warned Democrats that “anyone who voted against this bill would pay”. Elections have consequences, and the consequence of the last election is that we gave up the right to govern ourselves. We handed any influence we might have had over to Socialist politicians who see economic crisis as an opportunity for more government control.

Every American should seriously read this report and start preparing for what our government is about to do to us. A real resistance to Obama’s planned destruction of this country better begin soon, or it will be too late. I fear, by the time people wake up, our government will have also woken up to the importance of taking away our second amendment rights. See the current massacre in Iran for an example of what happens when an unarmed populace tries to fight for their freedom.

Global Warming Bill to be Largest Tax Increase EVER

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:56 pm

Another case of ramming legislation through Congress before anyone has a chance to read or debate it. Boy, you’ve got to love that transparency we were promised.

Democrats are trying to pass Cap and Trade legislation that would basically tax air. There was a time when this would have sounded like a joke, but we should never underestimate the liberals ability to tax us to death. The bill would require businesses to purchase permits for the amount of CO2 they emit in an effort to combat the bogus global warming crisis. These costs would then be passed on to the consumer, raising all of our energy prices to astronomical levels.

The CBO released a cost estimate that is completely useless, as it focuses on the early years of the program before the more stringent restrictions and permit costs go into effect. In a footnote, the CBO cost estimate addresses the real danger to our economy when this bill passes. It reads “The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap.” Not only will our energy prices go up during a time of soaring unemployment and a financial downturn, but businesses will ultimately produce less and make less money, severely impacting the nations GDP. Businesses in this country are already taxed more than other countries around the world, hence the outsourcing Democrats are always complaining about, but that doesn’t stop them from trying the same failed policies.

Democrats claim the whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less. In reality, Americans will pay more for what they buy, while cutting back on how much they buy, and businesses will have to cut back more on production or outsource to more business friendly countries. That means more job losses and less money going into the economy. That is Obama’s ultimate goal. To kill the free market system and make all of us dependent on the government. Socialism at its worst.

The Heritage Foundation estimated the REAL cost of this disastrous legislation.

When the Heritage Foundation did its analysis of Waxman-Markey, it broadly compared the economy with and without the carbon tax. Under this more comprehensive scenario, it found Waxman-Markey would cost the economy $161 billion in 2020, which is $1,870 for a family of four. As the bill’s restrictions kick in, that number rises to $6,800 for a family of four by 2035.

Thanks for the hope and change Democratic voters. Enjoy footing the bill. Here’s what you have to look forward to:

Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won’t pinch wallets, behind the scenes they’ve acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.

NKorea vows nuke attack if provoked by US

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:18 pm

It’s things like this that make me wish we still had President Bush in office. Bush wasn’t perfect, and the fact that opened the door to the bailout, socialist mess Obama is continuing angered me, but we could at least count on the man to keep us safe. Bush never would have let North Korea’s nuke and missile tests go unanswered, and Kim likely wouldn’t have felt so emboldened if not for the weak, Arab supporting community activist we have in office now.

We continue to hear the media repeat the mantra that North Korea has made threats before, so they’re probably just bluffing. Do we really want to take that risk and do nothing but “vote present”? This sounds pretty serious to me:

North Korean troops will respond to any sanctions or U.S. provocations with “an annihilating blow,” one senior official vowed—a pointed threat as an American destroyer shadowed a North Korean freighter sailing off China’s coast, possibly with banned goods on board.

Perhaps Obama is counting on the U.N. to take care of this problem for him. In his naive world, the U.N. is the answer to all the worlds ills, along with American apologies to foreign countries, and bowing before Islamic dictators. The U.N.’s answer to the last threat was as follows:

A new U.N. Security Council resolution passed recently to punish North Korea for conducting an underground nuclear test in May requires U.N. member states to request inspections of ships suspected of carrying arms or nuclear weapons-related material.

They are “punishing” North Korea by REQUESTING inspection of ships? That worked out really well didn’t it.

In response to the sanctions, the North pulled out of nuclear talks and has ramped up already strident anti-American rhetoric. And the isolated regime may now be moving to openly flout the resolution by dispatching a ship suspected of carrying arms to Myanmar. While it was not clear what was on board the North Korean-flagged Kang Nam 1, officials have mentioned artillery and other conventional weaponry. One intelligence expert suspected missiles.

Obama can’t even back up a toothless resolution and follow through on inspecting these ships.

The U.S. and its allies have made no decision on whether to request inspection of the ship, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said Wednesday in Washington, but North Korea has said it would consider any interception an act of war.

North Korea’s “armed forces will deal an annihilating blow that is unpredictable and unavoidable, to any ‘sanctions’ or provocations by the US,” Pak Pyong Jong, first vice chairman of the Pyongyang City People’s Committee, told the crowd gathered for the Korean War anniversary rally.

There are massacres happening in Iran, where election protesters are attempting to overthrow the current Islamic dictatorship. North Korea appears in many ways to be preparing for war, their leadership is threatening a nuclear attack, and they’re shipping banned weapons in faster than Michelle Obama can buy new clothes. Meanwhile, Obama is eating ice cream and golfing. All we hear from his administration is dismissals and attempts to refocus our attention on nationalizing (aka rationing) our health care. I hope those who voted for Obama are enjoying their “hope and change”.
