Babylon to be Rebuilt

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:57 pm

It looks like the Iraq war will soon become a part of prophecy fulfillment. The United States has pledged $700,000 to rebuild ancient Babylon. This is significant because, the Bible teaches that Babylon will be rebuilt and rise again in the end times.

Unfortunately, the article mentions just part of a verse from Isiah at the end of the article, which is totally misleading and seems to imply that the Bible prophesied that Babylon would never be inhabited again. For the full text of the scripture they partially quote, and an explanation of why Babylon must be rebuilt before the end-times, see this article: http://www.frankcaw.com/Babylon-Rebuilt.html. In short, Babylon “never again being inhabited” is referring to the period of time following its complete destruction during Armageddon, and not any current period of time. Babylon must first be rebuilt in order to be destroyed in the manner described in Isiah.

The United States has pledged $700,000 to help preserve and restore ancient Babylon.

In a news release, the U.S. State Department says “‘The Future of Babylon’ project exemplifies the American people’s commitment to the preservation of human heritage and their respect for the cultural heritage of Iraq.”

The State Department says the funding will allow the World Monuments Fund and Iraq’s Board of Antiquities and Heritage to plan for Babylon’s “conservation, study and tourism.”

In the Bible, Isaiah prophesies that Babylon “will never be inhabited, nor will it be settled from generation to generation.”
