Obama “stimulus” to create electronic medical records for every American

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:13 pm

Without much coverage from the media, and no mention of it from the President or Congress, Obama’s “stimulus” plan contains a provision to force every single American to submit their medical records to a government controlled electronic medical records database. There would be no way to opt out, because choice is only a good thing if you want to murder a baby.

Some of you may not have a problem with hundreds of thousands of agencies having access to information about your health, mental health records, whether you’ve been an obedient patient or not, and more. Most Americans, however, probably don’t want every detail of their medical history accessible to millions of people. Personally, I don’t want the Federal Government keeping that kind of information about me in a database, because I don’t trust our government to use it responsibly, especially with rabid supporters of the culture of death now in power. Pelosi’s population control plans could take on a whole new direction with that kind of information at her fingertips. It’s happened before in this country, and that was before God was kicked out of our government, schools, and the public square.

Judging by the drooling and groveling going on in meetings between Obama and leaders in the GOP, we can’t count on them to stop this power grab without an uprising from their constituents. Everyone should be writing their representatives in Congress, and calling, or faxing if possible. They need to know we don’t want this, and that there must, at the very least, be a provision for people to opt out of the system if they have concerns about privacy.

    Read the details here.

A little-discussed provision in President Obama’s economic stimulus plan would demand that every American submit to a government program for electronic medical records
without a choice to opt out, and it has privacy advocates more than a little alarmed.

Patients might be alarmed, too, privacy advocates said, if they realized information such as documentation on abortions, mental health problems, impotence, being labeled as a non-compliant patient, lawsuits against doctors and sexual problems could be shared electronically with, perhaps, millions of people.

Sue A. Blevins, president of the Institute for Health Freedom, said unless people have the right to decide “if and when” their health information is shared, there is no real privacy.

“President Obama has pledged to advance freedom,” she said. “Therefore the freedom to choose not to participate in a national electronic health-records system must be upheld.” …..

White House plan puts bull’s-eye on talk shows

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 1:02 am

I’m truly sickened by Barack Obama and his narcissistic demands that the media worship him without question or challenge. Throughout his campaign he regularly threatened news stations with a loss of access to his campaign if they asked hard questions, and since he officially received his crown and throne, he’s angrily rebuked any member of the national press core who doesn’t step carefully and show the proper amount of fear and reverence. While gathering with the White House Press Core for an informal social meet and great, one reporter dared to ask him a question on policy. As was reported by Rush Limbaugh, Obama promptly rebuked the mischievous reporter and told him that “if you ask me questions while I’m meeting personally with reporters, then I will no longer be able to do these informal social gatherings”. Any reporter within earshot of this conversation probably dropped to the floor, kissed his feet and begged His Highness not to deny them the extreme honor of his presence among the peasants, and an opportunity to kiss his ring. It’s sickening to see grown men and women crawl around in fear of losing access to The One, or being denied their daily shiver up the leg.

Now we’re learning that Obama wants to impose Fairness Doctrine style restrictions on broadcast companies, and make it the business of our new fascist government to dictate to the owners of these companies what will be allowed on the airwaves and what won’t. Since when is state controlled media a part of any free country? If government can dictate what is “fair” to discuss over the air waves, and force talk radio to air only programming that is acceptable to The One and his henchmen, we don’t really have freedom of speech anymore do we.

If you don’t remember what the Fairness Doctrine was about, it stated that equal time had to be given to differing political and ideological points of view on the radio. And, guess who gets to decide what’s a fair division of time, and what constitutes a diverse range of views? Obama does. And that’s just how he likes it. He operates by intimidating and threatening anyone who disagrees with him, or might criticize him. Like a child who’s been picked on at recess, he attacked Rush Limbaugh this week and warned Conservatives that, “if you want to get anything done, you can’t listen to Rush Limbaugh”. Thank you Mr. President, but I don’t need a Marxist wanna-be dictator telling me what I should and shouldn’t listen to on the radio, or how I should go about getting things done.

If you don’t think the administrations plans to get the Fairness Doctrine reinstated, which would effectively shut down talk radio and run it broadcasters out of business (think Air America), then you should ponder the same set of rules for the internet. Obama isn’t going to let the Internet just take over where talk radio left off in opposing this administration. He may not apply the Fairness Doctrine to the internet – that would probably be a can of worms even he would hesitate to open…right now. But, he can do the same thing by different means. He can tax the internet into the last decade, for example. If it’s too expensive for the average Joe to enjoy the last free speech zone in America, then the internet will start to resemble the print media. Only those with money, big corporations, or existing media conglomerates will be able to afford news websites with a large audience.

Then there’s always the McCain-Feingold approach. If blogs and the “free advertising” they give campaigns are suddenly considered campaign contributions, bloggers can be required to fill out all the necessary paperwork, and spend their time reporting their contributions to the Federal Government. Their websites or blogs could then be regulated by the Federal Government as political advertising. Don’t think they’d try it? Washington state has already proposed it, and would very much like to do just that. In fact they have already attempted this approach with a conservative radio station in the Seattle area.

The article I’m linking to below – and you should read all of it – explains their goals well when it says that they hope to achieve what FDR achieved with the new deal. If they can shut down talk radio, silence Obama’s critics, and create their own spin for everything they do, they will have solidified their power in Washington, just as they did during the New Deal. That led to 50 years of Democrat rule, and they hope it will lead to the same firm grip on power now. Only it’s a different party now, and Obama is a much more dangerous President. This country will never be the same if the Democrats are allowed to trash our constitution in this way, and strip us of our freedoms. If you don’t think they have the support to do it, read the liberal blogs, or pay attention to what your liberal acquaintances are saying. The Moonbats want blood, and what they’re saying in their blogs, e-mails, and around the water cooler would seem quite natural and appropriate if we were living in Nazi Germany. America is at a tipping point, and our future balances on the Right’s willingness to fight back. If we don’t scream just as loudly as they did for the last 8 years (but with more class, and less insanity), find new ways of getting our message out, and learn how to protest the way liberals have been doing for years (again with more class and less insanity), we will regret our silence for decades to come.

For a more in depth look at Obama’s plans read this article. It should scare you.

Nancy Pelosi: Unborn babies burden on economy

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:10 am

Nancy Pelosi is busy pushing The One’s agenda, and has hit the talk show circuit to explain how fewer babies will save the economy. When confronted with the exorbitant amount of money Congress is allocating to family planning (aka sex ed and abortion), Pelosi’s reply was that we have to deal with this economic downturn, and one one of the ways to do that is to fund family planning that leads to fewer babies. Wow, Nancy. Maybe all conservatives should just be asked to offer up their first born as a sacrifice to Obama’s trillion dollar spending extravaganza. How much more can we devalue human life? Now babies are just an expendable burden on on the state, and something to be prevented so Washington can spend more money? These people really are sick. Maybe Pelosi would like to bring back the forced sterilizations of the 1920′s and 30′s and weed out the “unfit” to save a buck. Eugenics is alive and well in America, thanks to the godless liberals.

I guess it makes sense to give a huge chunk of that change going to Planned Parenthood. The founder of PPA, Margaret Sanger, was a staunch supporter of Eugenics, and the board of PPFA was made up of the same people who sat on the board of the Eugenics Society of America. My, how history repeats itself when you stop teaching history, and begin revising it. I guess she’s only following in her President’s footsteps. Speaking of his daughter during the campaign, he said “If she makes a mistake…I don’t want to punish her with a baby!” So, babies are punishments, and now an unnecessary tax burden on the government. But, hey, population control is working out great for China…..Unless you’re the mother who wants to have more than two children. No choice for you! Come back, 30 year!

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic “stimulus” package, claiming “contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.”

Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, “Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom,” seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.

The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC’s THIS WEEK.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

When the hysteria wears off, there will be tears

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:24 pm

This piece is an excellent wake up call to the state of denial and delusional worship that we’ve seen across the country since the coronation of our new dear leader, and the consequences it will have for all of us. The masses celebrate as Obama and his minions in Congress prepare to remove all restrictions on abortion, making even partial birth abortion legal once again. For those of you who don’t know, let me describe exactly what happens in a partial birth abortion. It will be a shocking revelation to many of you.

In a partial birth abortion, a baby that, if born, would surely survive is brutally murdered. If you think I’m being overly dramatic about this, read on. The baby that requires a partial birth abortion to bring about its death is in an advanced stage of development. For some time it has been able to cry, it sucks its thumb, it moves about the womb, it can recognize its mother’s voice, it yawns, dreams, and most importantly, it can feel pain just as you and I do. Remember that last point, especially, as you read on.

The abortion begins when the abortionist uses forceps to grab the baby’s little legs and pull it through the birth canal, until all of the baby is delivered, except the head. The doctor leaves the head in the birth canal so that he doesn’t have to witness the horror and mutilation he is about to inflict an an innocent victim. He also leaves its head concealed so that he and the mother won’t have to hear the baby’s scream when he rams the forceps into the back of her head and spreads them apart to create a gaping hole at the base of her skull. The Abortionist then inserts a suction tube into the hole, and mercifully sucks the baby’s brains out, collapsing the skull. Only then does he deliver the rest of the dead baby to be disposed of as medical waste.

This is what Obama and the Godless liberals call choice. Sadly, abortion procedures used prior to the last stages of pregnancy are equally brutal, and in some cases even more painful for the baby. Chemical abortions for example, burn the top layer of skin off the baby before it is poisoned to death. Some of those babies have actually been born alive in “botched abortions” and have testified before Congress as adults to the horrors of abortion. They’ve offered their own lives as proof that a living child is being tortured and killed in an abortion. Only soulless animals lacking any compassion or conscience could witness their testimony and still support abortion. Yet, that is exactly the caliber of people we obviously have running our country.

If you didn’t know about any of these facts, I hope it makes you realize that there is more to the abortion debate than the simple issue of choice. Every person on this planet has a duty to educate themselves before they make a decision on whether they support abortion on demand. Millions of lives could be saved if they did.

Getting back to the article I reference in this post, people are soon going to be forced to wake up to the real “change” that Obama is going to bring to our country. Change, like thousands more government funded jobs that will do nothing to grow the economy. Things like terrorists being released from Guantanamo Bay Cuba that will go right back to their Jihad ways with renewed vigor, hatred, and determination to kill as many Americans as possible. We’ve already seen this result with the terrorists that have been released.

Obama is nothing more than a rock star personality, and his plans for this country are dangerous. The consequences of electing an inexperienced, Narcissistic Marxist are going to become a reality in the coming weeks, months, and years. Prepare yourselves and pray for our country.

This will end in tears. The Obama hysteria is not merely embarrassing to witness, it is itself contributory to the scale of the disaster that is coming. What we are experiencing, in the deepening days of a global depression, is the desperate suspension of disbelief by people of intelligence – la trahison des clercs – in a pathetic effort to hypnotise themselves into the delusion that it will be all right on the night. It will not be all right.

We have been here before. In the spring of 1997, to be precise, when a charismatic, young prime minister entered Downing Street, cheered by children bussed in for the occasion waving plastic Union Jacks. A very few of us at that time incurred searing reproaches for denouncing the Great Charlatan (as I have always denominated Tony Blair) and dissenting from the public hysteria. Three times a deluded Britain elected that transparent fraud. Yesterday, when national bankruptcy became a formal reality, we reaped the bitter harvest of the Blair/Brown imposture.

The burnt child, contrary to conventional wisdom, does not fear the fire. After the Blair experience there is no excuse for anybody in Britain falling for Obama. Yet today, in this country, even some of those who remained sane during the emotional spasm of the Diana aberration are pumping the air for Princess Barack. At a time of gross economic and geopolitical instability throughout the Western world, this is beyond irresponsibility.

To anyone who kept his head, the string of Christmas cracker mottoes booming through the public address system on Washington’s National Mall can only excite scepticism. It is crucial to recall the reality that lies behind the rhetoric. Denouncing “those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents” comes ill from a man whose flagship legislation, the Freedom of Choice Act, will impose abortion, including partial-birth abortion, on every state in the Union. It seems the era of Hope is to be inaugurated with a slaughter of the innocents.

Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan is like one of those toxic packages traded by bankers: it camouflages many unaffordable gifts to his client state. With a federal deficit already at $1.2 trillion, Obama wants to squander $825 billion (which will undoubtedly mushroom to more than $1 trillion) on creating 600,000 more government jobs and a further 459,000 in “green energy” (useless wind turbines and other Heath-Robinson contraptions favoured by Beltway environmentalists).

It is frightening to think there is a real possibility that the entire world economy could go into complete meltdown and famine kill millions. Yet Western – and British – commentators are cocooned in a warm comfort zone of infatuation with America’s answer to Neil Kinnock. We should be long past applauding politicians of any hue: they got us into this mess. The best deserve a probationary opportunity to prove themselves, the worst should be in jail.

It is questionable whether the present political system can survive the coming crisis. Whatever the solution, teenage swooning sentimentality over a celebrity cult has no part in it. The most powerful nation on earth is confronting its worst economic crisis under the leadership of its most extremely liberal politician, who has virtually no experience of federal politics. That is not an opportunity but a catastrophe.

These are frank, even ungracious, words: they have the one merit that, unlike almost everything else written today about Obama, they will not require to be eaten in the future.

    That Concludes the Evil Deception

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 7:37 pm

The coronation ceremony is over, and it looks like American Idol was more popular with many Americans. It was the most watched inauguration since Reagan, but Reagan still got far more viewers. You’d think Obama could grab the idol worshippers in droves, being the Messiah and all.

Many Obama worshipers, and of course the MSM, were offended by hearing the name Jesus uttered in public, because, apparently, a prayer is not inclusive if it is directed at the majority of Americans who are Christians. Prayers not including any mention of Christianity are, however, considered inclusive, and far less offensive to moonbat ears.

Some attending the inauguration didn’t need the prayers, though. They felt the presence of God the minute The One stepped up to the microphone. One such attendee gushed, “You Feel God is Speaking to You“, when asked about her experience.

The experience of one foreign correspondent wasn’t quite that Grand. He dubbed Obama’s acceptance speech his “worst ever“. Could this be the beginning of actual criticism for the anointed one? Or, is this gentleman, perhaps, just not enlightened enough to understand the nuanced approach of our benevolent community organizer in chief?

The Biden gaff machine is just warming up, and Obama’s very first phone call this morning was to the President of the Palestinian Authority, not our ally Israel. I’m sure he was simply beginning his magic dialogue that will convince all Arabs to be more discrete about pushing Israel into the sea. Iran can’t wait to have it’s face to face with The One to discuss throwing Israel under the bus. Just O’s presence in the Oval Office led Israel to remove all troops from Gaza, so I’madinnerjacket needs to have Obama part the Red Sea, since their weapons smuggling tunnels are now toast.

Meanwhile, the BDS enraged left took time out from the Messiah’s big day to deface a Bush Memorial. Isn’t that a federal crime? I’m sure it was done in the spirit of bipartisanship, and they were only emphasizing that the change has come.

It’s going to be a long two years, and we’ll probably see a few terrorist attacks. At least we won’t have another Kennedy spouting off in Congress.

Obama Supporters Desicrate the U.S. Flag

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 5:25 pm

It’s not surprising that Liberals wouldn’t know about, or wouldn’t care about the U.S. Flag Code. Since these flags will now need to be burned….

U.S. Flag Code – “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.”

….I’m feeling an urge to do some community service and help them out.

Celebrating Religious Freedom Day – banning Bibles

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:33 pm

A school in Florida celebrated “religious freedom day” by banning a Christian group from distributing Bibles. I’m not sure – do they not understand what religious freedom day is supposed to be about, or are they protesting the fact that we have religious freedom? Only liberal God haters could be that hypocritical.

Obama Coronation to be most expensive in history

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 10:34 pm

The Coronation of the Messiah will be the most expensive in our entire history. Remember when Bush was elected to his first term in office and all the moonbats screeched and wailed about the enormous cost of the inauguration and how extravagant and wasteful President Bush was being?

Ohhhh, but this is The One we’re talking about here. He may need Greek columns on every corner, and his wife will surely have to eat only the best and most expensive lobster.

When BO started running out of money, he had the help bring before him the Bush and warned the outgoing President that his Highness was running out of money. Like a patriotic American, Bush declared a state of emergency in D.C., freeing up more money for the grand event. The next step will be to tell every American that they will be required to go without their paycheck this month. For the good of the country, or course. It’s time for everyone to give more, remember. It’s patriotic to be taxed into poverty, just ask Joe Biden. The Hypocrite Party will soon be in power.

President Barack Obama’s inauguration next week is set to be the most expensive ever, predicted to reach over $150m (£102m). This dwarfs the $42.3m spent on George Bush’s inauguration in 2005 and the $33m spent on Bill Clinton’s in 1993.

Part of the spending includes emergency funding announced by the White House on Tuesday to help with the soaring costs. Most of this new federal funding will be to deal with the huge influx of people, estimated 1.5 million to 2 million.

A White House statement said that President Bush “declared an emergency exists in the District of Columbia”.

If there is snow, the costs will grow higher. The long-term forecast suggests there is a chance of snow on Sunday and again on the day of inauguration, on Tuesday.

Carole Florman, spokeswoman for the joint congressional committee on inaugural ceremonies, told the New York Daily News, which estimated the cost at $160m: “We’re always very budget conscious. But we’re sending a message to the entire world about our peaceful transition of power, and you don’t want it to look like a schlock affair. It needs to be appropriate to the magnitude of events that it is.”

And Now to Nationalize the Banks

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 10:17 pm

He who controls the money…. This is really scary folks. Our government is buying out bank after bank. The latest “bailout” makes the Fed the largest shareholder in Bank of America. We are on the fast track to socialism and there isn’t a conservative in site that has a spine.

Last fall, as Federal Reserve and Treasury Department officials rode to the rescue of one financial institution after another, they took great pains to avoid doing anything that smacked of nationalizing banks.

They may no longer have that luxury. With two of the nation’s largest banks buckling under yet another round of huge losses, the incoming administration of Barack Obama and the Federal Reserve are suddenly dealing with banks that are “too big to fail” and yet unable to function as the sinking economy erodes their capital.

Particularly in the case of Citigroup, the losses have become so large that they make it almost mathematically impossible for the government to inject enough capital without taking a majority stake or at least squeezing out existing shareholders.

And the new ground rules laid down by Obama’s top economic advisers for the second half of the $700 billion bailout fund, as explained in a letter submitted to Congress on Thursday, call for the government to play an increasing role in the major activities of the banks, from the dividends they pay to shareholders to the amount they can pay executives.

“We are down a path that this country has not seen since Andrew Jackson shut down the Second National Bank of the United States,” said Gerard Cassidy, a banking analyst at RBC Capital Markets. “We are going to go back to a time when the government controlled the banking system.”

Rockets From Lebanon Hit Northern Israel; Israel Fires Back

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 6:44 am

It looks like Muslim terrorists in Lebanon are still trying to create a second front in the war for Israel.

Militants in Lebanon sent rockets crashing into northern Israel on Wednesday, while Israeli aircraft pounded a Gaza cemetery, Hamas weapons positions and tunnels used for smuggling, witnesses and the military said Wednesday.

The rockets from Lebanon landed in open areas near the town of Kiryat Shemona, causing no injuries or damage, Israeli police said. Residents of northern Israel were instructed to head to bomb shelters following the second attack from Lebanon in less than a week….

Osama bin Laden also chimed in with an audio tape calling on all Muslims to unite against Israel, and condemned the Arab governments who aren’t doing their part to wage Jihad. He is now back in his cave hiding, until next years video, when he once again feels insignificant and needs to get Al Qaeda’s dwindling terror group back in the news. That is if Obama hasn’t released the prisoners from Gitmo (the one’s who MAY even be dangerous) and stopped wire tapping, interrogating, and disrupting what’s left of Al Qaeda’s leadership.

“It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realize,” the president-elect explained. “Part of the challenge that you have is that you have a bunch of folks that have been detained, many of whom may be very dangerous who have not been put on trial or have not gone through some adjudication. And some of the evidence against them may be tainted even though it’s true. And so how to balance creating a process that adheres to rule of law, habeas corpus, basic principles of Anglo-American legal system, by doing it in a way that doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.”

Ya, that whole blowing us up thing might be important. How about we bring them to the United States where they’ll have the protections of our constitution, and we can house them in our prisons right here at home. That won’t attract any terrorist retaliation at all. I’m sure if they didn’t attack the Marines at Guantanamo, they won’t try to make martyrs of their buddies incarcerated here in the states either.

At least Obama has his priorities straight, and hasn’t ruled out prosecuting the Bush administration for their “crimes” against the terrorists.

Obama said that he is not ruling out prosecution for crimes committed by the Bush administration and left open the possibility of appointing a special prosecutor or commission to independently investigate abuses of power and illegal activity.

Obama’s comments came in response to the most popular question on his own Web site, www.change.gov, which has received 23,000 votes on the “Open for Questions” portion of the site. Bob Fertik of New York who runs the Democrats.com Web site asks Obama, “Will you appoint a special prosecutor — ideally Patrick Fitzgerald — to independently investigate the gravest crimes of the Bush administration, including torture and warrantless wiretapping?”

“We’re still evaluating how we’re going to approach the whole issue of interrogations, detentions, and so forth. And obviously we’re going to be looking at past practices and I don’t believe that anybody is above the law.” Obama said. “But my instinct is for us to focus on how do we make sure that moving forward we are doing the right thing. That doesn’t mean that if somebody has blatantly broken the law, that they are above the law. But my orientation’s going to be to move forward.”

He’ll really be wanting to move forward and step away from the Bush bashing when he gets his first real intelligence briefings, and has to begin every morning hearing what might happen to his family and fellow Americans that day if he makes the wrong decision. When the next attack will fall squarely on his shoulders and there is no President Bush to blame, he’ll probably be wishing he hadn’t tied his hands behind his back with all of the “abuse of power” whining. I wouldn’t blame President Bush if he takes some pleasure in knowing that Obama will be forced to decide between tapping someone’s phone, and risking the Brooklyn Bridge being blown up during rush hour traffic. Obama’s choice in that situation will reveal the level of his narcissism. Let’s pray he’s not as arrogant and self serving as he appears to be.

    Babylon to be Rebuilt

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:57 pm

It looks like the Iraq war will soon become a part of prophecy fulfillment. The United States has pledged $700,000 to rebuild ancient Babylon. This is significant because, the Bible teaches that Babylon will be rebuilt and rise again in the end times.

Unfortunately, the article mentions just part of a verse from Isiah at the end of the article, which is totally misleading and seems to imply that the Bible prophesied that Babylon would never be inhabited again. For the full text of the scripture they partially quote, and an explanation of why Babylon must be rebuilt before the end-times, see this article: http://www.frankcaw.com/Babylon-Rebuilt.html. In short, Babylon “never again being inhabited” is referring to the period of time following its complete destruction during Armageddon, and not any current period of time. Babylon must first be rebuilt in order to be destroyed in the manner described in Isiah.

The United States has pledged $700,000 to help preserve and restore ancient Babylon.

In a news release, the U.S. State Department says “‘The Future of Babylon’ project exemplifies the American people’s commitment to the preservation of human heritage and their respect for the cultural heritage of Iraq.”

The State Department says the funding will allow the World Monuments Fund and Iraq’s Board of Antiquities and Heritage to plan for Babylon’s “conservation, study and tourism.”

In the Bible, Isaiah prophesies that Babylon “will never be inhabited, nor will it be settled from generation to generation.”

UC Berkeley Okay with Promoting Some Religions

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:13 pm

UC Berkeley, along with most universities and colleges in this country, is actively endorsing and promoting religions that disbelieve the creation account of the origins of man in favor of evolution. Somehow, this doesn’t constitute the endorsement of religion using tax dollars, though. Isn’t that interesting how religions that teach a liberal view of the world don’t receive the same censorship that other religions do. I’m growing about as weary of our liberal education system’s hypocrisy as I am their “creationism isn’t science” mantra. Intelligent Design has a wealth of scientific evidence to support it. The problem is, the Darwinists are just too afraid to let it be heard, or acknowledge peer reviewed research on the subject. The problems with the THEORY of evolution must be kept under wraps, and Darwinists must not be expected to answer questions. That’s the only way you can handle the opposition when your science is flawed, and your theory is based on blind faith. It takes far more faith to be an atheist and evolutionist than it does to be a Christian who believes in Intelligent Design.

Whether a public university can use taxpayer funds from the federal government for a website that overtly endorses the beliefs of some religious groups regarding evolution and creation – but not others – is the focus of a case that’s being prepared for submission to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“This is a classic example of what the Founding Fathers did not want,” Brad Dacus, of the Pacific Justice Institute, told WND.

His organization is working on the case that revolves around a University of California-Berkeley website that advocates for a single perspective in the arguments over evolution – and highlights a list of religious groups whose beliefs agree with that perspective.

The site, funded by a federal grant and aimed at influencing teachers to promote evolution, excludes and ridicules perspectives – and religious groups that hold those perspectives – that fail to align with its stated beliefs.

“Some religious beliefs explicitly contradict science (e.g., the belief that the world and all life on it was created in six literal days); however, most religious groups have no conflict with the theory of evolution or other scientific findings,” states the website.

“This [website] injures religious freedom in this country,” Dacus said. “The government is playing a role that is overtly hostile to some religious groups and denominations while favoring and giving greater recognition towards others.”

He continued, “This case involves the ability of the state to use taxpayer money to overtly endorse and encourage support of one set of religious denominations over others.”

By the way, if you want to really upset an evolutionist, try to get them to answer questions about the evolution that had to take place to get from primordial ooze to an ape. They like to pretend the ape to man part of evolution is all that exists. “Ooze to ape” presents all sorts of problems for them, and they don’t like to talk about it. Darwin didn’t write a book about “change in species over time”. Christians wouldn’t argue that species change. Darwin wrote a book on “the ORIGINS of man”, meaning where humans came from and where it all began. Asking a Darwinist about the billions of years of evolution that supposedly took place before apes and ape-men appeared on the scene can lead to hours of highly entertaining theories that often involve some form of intelligent design, or some off the wall theory about the necessary components for life piggybacking on crystals from another galaxy. More often than not, however, you’ll get a frustrated attempt to steer the conversation back to the magical point in time when all the intricate and delicately balanced parts of a living ape had evolved to begin the process of becoming humans.

Congress’ plan would let AG ‘ban guns at will’

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 1:12 am

Like so many of Obama’s cabinet picks, his pick for Attorney General, Eric Holder, indicates he won’t be sticking to his campaign promises. In this case his promise to respect our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Eric Holder is an extreme gun control advocate. So extreme, he actually supported the Washington DC gun law that banned residents from keeping any kind of fire arm in their homes for self defense, or any other purpose. He will surely have no problem with a bill currently in Congress that would make any semi-automatic rifles, handguns, or shotguns that are used by law enforcement illegal for the American people to own. They should be banned, according to liberals, because they are not suitable for sporting purposes. It doesn’t even have to be the exact same kind of gun. The Attorney General can decide that a gun is similar enough to a type of weapon used by law enforcement to make it worthy of being banned for the general public. That means my Glock .40 S&W could be deemed illegal just because some law enforcement agencies have their officers use them in the line of duty. Actually, several of my home defense weapons, and guns I use for recreational shooting could become illegal.

Not only is this unconstitutional, it’s moronic. Haven’t we been hearing for years from law enforcement and some politicians that the criminals have the police outgunned with better more high power guns? I guess Congress would have us protect our families from the crook who comes in our house with a sawed off shotgun by using squirt guns, or perhaps diplomacy.

It also serves no purpose other than to gain ground toward an unarmed public, which is their ultimate goal. You don’t stop gun crimes by going after innocent gun owners. You go after the criminals. It’s also been proven in studies of crime statistics that gun ownership among the population cuts down on crime. Banning guns in peoples homes is the equivalent of declaring open season for burglars and criminals. If they think they might actually get shot for threatening someone with a gun or robbing someone, naturally, they will be less likely to perpetrate a crime. If their dumb enough to try it anyway, they’ll likely be less successful in their attempt, and it’ll probably mean one less violent criminal on the streets. It’s common sense. Liberals are a little short on that, though.

The only hope Republicans have of stopping this bill in the new 111th Congress is to hold the bill in committee and hope it dies a slow death – something the Democrats have been masters at doing (think Bolton, or Bush’s judicial nominations), but Republicans have historically been too weak willed to fight those kind of battles. If we want laws like these kept off the books, and our gun rights protected, we all need to contact our Senators and express our extreme displeasure. If our voice is loud enough, maybe they’ll listen. It’s the Republicans only hope of regaining power. The message that should have been sent by the last election is that Conservative Americans are tired of Rinos who don’t listen to the will of their constituents.

Kissinger: Obama primed to create ‘New World Order’

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 9:00 pm

Kissinger, a long time foreign policy expert and member of the Bilderberg Group, usually knows what he’s talking about when it comes to globalization. He sees Obama’s situation – taking office when different crises are affecting every part of the globe – as presenting a huge opportunity to finally usher in the New World Order. He has the Messiah image, both internationally and in America, to finally do what globalists have been trying to do for decades. Rapid prophecy fulfillment, the turmoil in the Middle East, Russia’s continued aggression and funding of Arab military programs, and Iran’s nuclear ambitions make this scenario seem even more likely. We should all be watching Israel. It’s God’s prophetic clock.

If any of you are thinking Obama is the Antichrist however, you should know that the Bible is very clear about where the Antichrist will come from, and it’s not America. He will come from the same people who killed Jesus, and later invaded Israel – the Romans. If someone like Obama rises to power in the EU (the old Roman Empire), start looking up. Interestingly the E.U. is coming closer to passing the treaty that replaced the defeated E.U. constitution. That means a powerful U.E. presidency is likely on the horizon. It’s all coming together just as God said it would.

Conflicts across the globe and an international respect for Barack Obama have created the perfect setting for establishment of “a New World Order,” according to Henry Kissinger, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former secretary of state under President Nixon.

Kissinger has long been an integral figure in U.S. foreign policy, holding positions in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations. Author of over a dozen books on foreign policy, Kissinger was also named by President Bush as the chairman of the Sept. 11 investigatory commission.

Kissinger made the remark in an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” hosts Mark Haines and Erin Burnett at the New York Stock Exchange, after Burnett asked him what international conflict would define the Obama administration’s foreign policy.

“The president-elect is coming into office at a moment when there is upheaval in many parts of the world simultaneously,” Kissinger responded. “You have India, Pakistan; you have the jihadist movement. So he can’t really say there is one problem, that it’s the most important one. But he can give new impetus to American foreign policy partly because the reception of him is so extraordinary around the world. His task will be to develop an overall strategy for America in this period when, really, a new world order can be created. It’s a great opportunity, it isn’t just a crisis.”

Obama: Financial Markets Face ‘Substantial Overhaul’

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 6:23 pm

Socialism here we come. Obama is just itching to hand out over a trillion dollars in his promised “stimulus package”. The only thing it will stimulate is the deficit, and the bottom line of industries that deserve to go under for their mismanagement and greed. History indicates that recessions follow the same pattern each time we have them, with the exception of Jimmah Carter’s mess. Without the meddling of Socialist Democrats, the market will correct in about another year. But, why waste an excuse to play up a crisis and make major changes. While we’re fighting a war on terrorism is not the time for another four years of Carter.

This man truly scares me. I personally think he has absolutely no freaking clue what he’s doing. Considering his inexperience and love of Marxism, it is disturbing to hear him say things like, “We’ve got to update the whole system to meet the needs of the 21st century”. We may never be able to undo the “updating” this man will do to our free market system. If by updating the system, he means anything like the updating he promoted via ACORN, Frannie Mae, and Freddie Mac that got us into this mess, we’re in big trouble.

What really kills me is how he can get away with this:

He Indicated that he may not seek a quick repeal of President Bush’s tax cuts for people making over $250,000 and will let them expire in 2010.

I thought the evil Bush tax cuts were the cause of the entire problem? What happened to spreading the wealth around by getting rid of those evil tax cuts for the rich. Obama got an education when he went to Washington, and got some tutoring from those who’ve actually had experience in such things, that’s what happened. Wasn’t it Biden, or was it Hillary, who said we can’t afford on the job training at a time like this? The American people will pay for electing a narcissistic liar just because he promised them hope’nchange, and repeated “failed Bush policies” over and over again (the same policies he now intends to keep in place).

Obama plans to propose $310 billion in tax cuts for the middle class and businesses as part of the $775 billion stimulus plan. Some U.S. governors and economists are pushing for a larger package—around $1 trillion—in both spending and tax cuts. Many Republicans want a more modest bill, possibly in the range of $500 billion.

Video: Obama on staying in touch with Wall Street

Obama said he’s concerned that the stimulus money “is spent wisely, that there’s oversight and that there’s transparency.” He also considers tax cuts just as important as spending provisions in the stimulus.

Tax and spend. It’s the liberal way. I’ve also noticed the media is paving the way for Obama’s “New Deal” that will commit billions of dollars to fixing our infrastructure. The History Chanel is even running a special on the crumbling road systems and soliciting stories from citizens about the potholes and post-winter road conditions where they live. As if potholes, in the wake of winter storms, are something new and disastrous that requires a massive government jobs program.

So, Obama’s solution is to spend trillions, put people to work in temporary jobs fixing potholes around the country, and “hope the economy has an upturn in 2009″. I feel so reassured. Lord help us.

Obama picks Leon Panetta to head CIA

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:59 pm

This scares me about as much as anything Obama has done thus far. He’s picked a person to head the Central Intelligence Agency that has no experience whatsoever in intelligence. Our safety is the one area where we don’t need another inexperienced Clinton holdover. What this pick tells me is that Obama is more interested in Panetta’s political prowess than his ability to prevent another attack on this country. Our CIA has enough problems without their notorious aversion to being led by an outsider being stirred up again. I want them focusing on the Islamists trying to kill us, not infighting at the agency.

When Panetta has weighed in on intelligence matters, he falls in line with the typical liberal position on interrogation methods, and is against anything that even remotely resembles torture. He said the following in this article he wrote:

We cannot simply suspend [American ideals of human rights] in the name of national security. Those who support torture may believe that we can abuse captives in certain select circumstances and still be true to our values. But that is a false compromise. We either believe in the dignity of the individual, the rule of law, and the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment, or we don’t. There is no middle ground.

We cannot and we must not use torture under any circumstances. We are better than that.

If Panetta had been in charge the last eight years, I doubt we would have gotten the information we did from captured terrorists that saved countless lives in thwarted attacks.

It isn’t just Republicans who have problems with his inexperience, though. Even Diane Feinstein has expressed concerns.

Former California congressman and Clinton aide has little experience with spy agencies. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, incoming chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, indicates she might oppose the pick.

I guess we can hope that his experience in several other government agencies, positions, and boards will be sufficient to guide him in protecting us. As the current administration is fond of saying, we only have to be wrong once.

    We’re doomed.

In filling four senior Justice Department positions Monday, President-elect Barack Obama signaled that he intends to roll back Bush administration counterterrorism policies authorizing harsh interrogation techniques, warrantless spying and indefinite detentions of terrorism suspects.

The most startling shift was Obama’s pick of Indiana University law professor Dawn Johnsen to take charge of the Office of Legal Counsel, the unit that’s churned out the legal opinions that provided a foundation for expanding President George W. Bush’s national security powers.

Johnsen, who spent five years in the Office of Legal Counsel during the Clinton administration and served as its acting chief, has publicly assailed “Bush’s corruption of our American ideals.” Upon the release last spring of a secret Office of Legal Counsel memo that backed tactics approaching torture for interrogations of terrorism suspects, she excoriated the unit’s lawyers for encouraging “horrific acts” and for advising Bush “that in fighting the war on terror, he is not bound by the laws Congress has enacted.”

The EPA wants to tax cow farts

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:46 pm

They didn’t get the memo that 2008 was the year global warming was debunked.

Call this one of the newest and innovative ways your government has come up with to battle greenhouse gas emissions.

Indirectly it could be considered a cheeseburger tax, but one of the suggestions offered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in its Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) for regulating greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act is to levy a tax on livestock.

The ANPR, released early this year, would give the EPA the authority to regulate greenhouse gas for not only greenhouse gas from manmade sources like transportation and industry, but also “stationary” sources which would include livestock.

The New York Farm Bureau assigned a price tag to the cost of greenhouse gas regulation by the EPA in a release last month.

“The tax for dairy cows could be $175 per cow, and $87.50 per head of beef cattle. The tax on hogs would upwards of $20 per hog,” the release said. “Any operation with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs would have to obtain permits.”

    Those are some expensive farts!!

European Union gives police authority to hack home PC’s

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:37 pm

Police in the E.U. can now hack a persons personal computer without getting a warrant to look for evidence of a crime they suspect has been, or will be committed. The Bible says the Antichrist will rise out of the EU, and the EU Council of Ministers in Brussels certainly act like they are preparing for his arrival. Computers and the internet are becoming a powerful tool in the hands of the average person. With access to information, it’s much harder for governments and political elites to control the masses. Watch for them to begin attacking that freedom, and increase regulation on the last source of free speech and thought we have.

A spokesperson for the UK’s Association of Chief Police Officers told the Times that hacking into private citizens’ computers is sometimes necessary in investigating cybercrimes such as child pornography, identity theft and terrorism.

Anything can be deemed “necessary” when governments reach is not limited. When privacy laws are completely ignored, the list of necessary targets will grow until anything that poses even a remote threat to government power and control is under surveillance. Sadly, people will blindly accept just about anything in the name of tolerance these days.

Police and state intelligence agencies from several countries may soon be working together to secretly hack into private citizens’ personal computers without their knowledge and without a warrant.

According to a London Times report, the police hacking process, called “remote searching,” enables law enforcement to gather information from e-mails, instant messages and Web browsers, even while hundreds of miles away.

Furthermore, the Times reports, a new edict by the European Union’s council of ministers in Brussels has paved the way for international law enforcement agencies to begin remote searching and sharing the information with each other. According to the Times, the United Kingdom’s Home Office, the nation’s lead government department for immigration, drugs and counter-terrorism enforcement, has already quietly adopted a plan that would enable French, German and other European Union police forces to request remote searching be done on UK citizens’ computers.

    Hamas starts 2nd civil war

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 9:49 pm

Hamas is brutally murdering members of Fatah and the Palestinian Authority, but the media has imposed a media blackout on Hamas atrocities in order to make room for the endless stream of anti-Israel news. They cover every propaganda piece Hamas puts out, and report the Palestinian death tole with glee, but ignore the terrorists the Palestinian people chose to rule over them. These are the people liberals want leading a Palestinian state.

The Hamas government has placed dozens of Fatah members under house arrest out of fear that they might exploit the current IDF operation to regain control of the Gaza Strip

Fatah officials in Ramallah told The Jerusalem Post that Hamas militiamen had been assaulting many Fatah activists since the beginning of the operation last Saturday. They said at least 75 activists were shot in the legs while others had their hands broken.

Wisam Abu Jalhoum, a Fatah activist from the Jabalya refugee camp, was shot in the legs by Hamas militiamen for allegedly expressing joy over the IDF air strikes on Hamas targets.

“Hamas is very nervous, because they feel that their end is nearing,” a senior Fatah official said. “They have been waging a brutal campaign against Fatah members in the Gaza Strip.”

Meanwhile, sources close to Hamas revealed over the weekend that the movement had “executed” more than 35 Palestinians who were suspected of collaborating with Israel and were being held in various Hamas security installations.

“We will kill them all if they try to help Israel bring down our government,” the official said. “We will hang Mahmoud Abbas and [former Fatah security chief] Muhammad Dahlan in the public square if they try to enter the Gaza Strip aboard Israeli tanks.”

The Hamas official said that his security forces had launched a massive “preemptive” campaign aimed at thwarting Fatah’s attempts to “spread anarchy and chaos.” He confirmed that many Fatah operatives had been shot in the legs over the past few days by Hamas “to make sure that they don’t help Israel.”

Polar ice caps grow to levels seen 30 years ago – Don’t tell Al Gore

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 7:16 pm

Poor Al. Just when his global warming scam was really paying off, scientists have found that the polar ice caps, and floating arctic ice, are growing at a rapid rate. So much for the “sky is falling” crowd and their claim that global warming is melting ice so fast that Santa is about to be homeless. The next time an atheist tries to tell you Christians have been proven wrong by science, ask them if they are referring to the work of the same scientists that believe in global warming.

Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.

Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.

The data is being reported by the University of Illinois’s Arctic Climate Research Center, and is derived from satellite observations of the Northern and Southern hemisphere polar regions.

Each year, millions of square kilometers of sea ice melt and refreeze. However, the mean ice anomaly — defined as the seasonally-adjusted difference between the current value and the average from 1979-2000, varies much more slowly. That anomaly now stands at just under zero, a value identical to one recorded at the end of 1979, the year satellite record-keeping began.

Congress wants to put GPS in all cars

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:43 pm

It’s being tested in Oregon, and will likely become the law in that state, but Congress is watching the program closely and hoping to implement it nationally. The program I’m referring to is a millage tax plan that would put GPS units in all cars, allowing state governments, and eventually the federal government to tax people according to how many miles they drive. The change, they say, is needed because people are driving more fuel efficient cars and governments aren’t making as much money on the gas taxes we pay at the pump. They told us for years that we all needed to conserve energy and drive more fuel efficient cars, but now they want to punish us for doing just that by tracking our movements and charging us for how far we drive.

Oregon even plans to charge people more per mile during rush hour, thereby punishing people for going to work. I thought Liberals were the champions of the working people. NOT!

The issue of over taxation aside, this will be a privacy concern for most Americans. A GPS unit in your car is a huge invasion of privacy by people who have no business knowing where you go, how long you’re there, and when you come back. The states using the plan, however, assure us that they don’t save the GPS data of our movements and whereabouts, and it won’t be accessible to the police or Feds. Uh…Whoopty Freakin Doo! At anytime the government COULD access or store that information if they wanted to. They could also improve the GPS systems over time, and before you know it we’re living in 1984 and Obama’s civilian military force is monitoring our every move. It’s a very slippery slope, and another government intrusion into our lives. It also proves that our society is more than ready to receive the Antichrist with open arms, and allow him power and control over us that generations passed never would have allowed.

Oregon is among a growing number of states exploring ways to tax drivers based on the number of miles they drive instead of how much gas they use, even going so far as to install GPS monitoring devices in 300 vehicles.

The idea first emerged nearly 10 years ago as Oregon lawmakers worried that fuel-efficient cars such as gas-electric hybrids could pose a threat to road upkeep, which is paid for largely with gasoline taxes.

“I’m glad we’re taking a look at it before the potholes get so big that we can’t even get out of them,” said Leroy Younglove, a Portland driver who participated in a recent pilot program.

The proposal is not without critics, including drivers who are concerned about privacy and others who fear the tax could eliminate the financial incentive for buying efficient vehicles.

But Oregon is ahead of the nation in exploring the concept, even though it will probably be years before any mileage tax is adopted.

Congress is talking about it, too. A congressional commission has envisioned a system similar to the prototype Oregon tested in 2006-2007.

The National Commission on Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing is considering calling for higher gas taxes to keep highways, bridges and transit programs in good shape.

But over the long term, commission members say, the nation should consider taxing mileage rather than gasoline as drivers use more fuel-efficient and electric vehicles.

As cars burn less fuel, “the gas tax isn’t going to fill the bill,” said Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The next Congress “could begin to set the stage, perhaps looking at some much more robust pilot programs, to begin the research, to work with manufacturers.”

Gov. Ted Kulongoski has included development money for the tax in his budget proposal, and interest is growing in a number of other states.

Governors in Idaho and Rhode Island have considered systems that would require drivers to report their mileage when they register vehicles.

In North Carolina last month, a panel suggested charging motorists a quarter-cent for every mile as a substitute for the gas tax.

    Read the rest here.

We should all be prepared to fight this and make Congress listen for a change. Our government is out of control.

U.S. Servicemen Worried about Obama Commander in Chief

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 1:29 am

Worldnet Daily reports that a recent Military Times survey of active-duty service members found 6 of 10 U.S. soldiers polled said they were “pessimistic” or “uncertain” about Barack Obama serving as commander in chief of America’s armed forces. The troops cited Obama’s inexperience in leading soldiers, his plans for accelerated removal of troops from Iraq, and his pledge to overturn the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy regarding homosexual service members as reasons for their concern.

It’s tragic, really, that we’ve elected a man during a time when we’re fighting two wars and a war on terror, and our service men and women don’t trust him to lead them. It would be troubling for sure to know that the man who will need to lead you to victory was against the war you’re fighting, doesn’t think what you are doing is for a noble cause, and has repeatedly stated, as a United States Senator, that he thought the troops would fail in Iraq.

Here are a couple of the comments made by troops who took the survey. Doesn’t it kind of seem like these troops know more about the war, what’s needed to win, and what the consequences of Obama’s plan could be, if enacted, than The One does.

“Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers,” said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified, “nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief.”

“How are you going to safely pull combat troops out of Iraq?” asked Air Force 1st Lt. Rachel Kleinpeter, an intelligence officer with the 100th Operations Support Squadron. “And if you’re pulling out combat troops, who are you leaving to help support what’s left? What happens if Iraq falls back into chaos? Are we going to be there in five years doing the same thing over again?”

If only one of these young men or women could have run for President.

Israel plans ground invasion into Gaza – AP tells more lies

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 12:54 am

The media really are clueless. Or, perhaps just dishonest. In this article about a coming Israeli ground invasion into Gaza, the AP talks about the recent attacks as coming on the heals of a 6 month cease fire that ended last month. There was no cease fire, other than on some piece of paper Jimmy Carter probably had his buddies in Hamas sign. Hamas continued to fire rockets further and further into Israel during the “cease fire”, and new sophisticated rockets have continued to damage civilian infrastructure and kill innocent Jews. THAT is not a cease fire. The only side that ceased firing was Israel.

Fox news also contributed to the article, which might account for this moment of mental clarity:

Hamas, whose charter specifically calls for the destruction of the state of Israel, had ordered a “day of wrath” against Israel on Friday over the killing of a senior commander.

Pray for the IDF soldiers tasked with routing out the terrorists who are launching rockets at their friends, family, and fellow Israelis. Hamas has threatened more attempts to abduct Israeli soldiers, so pray for the troops and their families.

Gaza’s Iranian made Fajr-3 rockets put Israel’s nuclear plant within reach

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 10:57 am

Hamas may finally be overplaying their hand. Israel is not going to stand by and watch rockets fall on the only thing that stands between them and an attack from the Jihadist nations that surround them. Israeli politicians seemed willing to let Jews die in Hamas rocket attacks much longer than any other country would tolerate, but even liberal Israeli politicians know the dangers that face them enough to crack down hard when rockets start reaching Tel Aviv and their nuke facilities. At this point, who cares if the rest of the world whines about a “disproportionate response”. The only response they would accept anyway, is a volley of spit wads.

There were growing fears in Israel last night that Hamas missiles could threaten its top-secret nuclear facility at Dimona.

Rocket attacks from Gaza have forced Israelis to flee in ever greater numbers and military chiefs have been shaken by the size and sophistication of the militant group’s arsenal.

In Beersheba, until a few days ago a sleepy desert town in southern Israel, there is little sign of the 186,000 inhabitants. Schools are closed and the streets of shuttered shops echo with the howl of sirens warning of incoming rockets.

Israeli planes, meanwhile, began a new stage yesterday in their offensive on Gaza, killing Nizar Rayyan, a senior Hamas official. The one-tonne bomb in Jabaliya is also understood to have killed two of his four wives and four of his twelve children. More than 400 Palestinians have been killed in the six days of Israeli attacks.

Despite a diplomatic mission by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli Foreign Minister, to Paris, the Israeli army continued to muster thousands of troops and scores of tanks along Gaza’s border for a possible ground offensive. Israel’s airstrikes are designed to blunt Hamas’s capacity to fire its new Grad missiles deep into its territory. The weapons are smuggled in through tunnels and by sea, replacing homemade Qassam rockets.

Israeli officials say that Hamas has also acquired dozens of Iranian-made Fajr-3 missiles with an even longer range. Many fear that as the group acquires ever more sophisticated weaponry it is only a matter of time before the nuclear installation at Dimona, 20 miles east of Beersheba, falls within its sights. Dimona houses Israel’s only nuclear reactor and is believed to be where nuclear warheads are stored.

    Town bans annoying speech

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 10:31 am

In Brighton, Michigan the First Amendment has been rescinded in favor of a more tolerant interpretation of freedom of speech. Choose your words wisely when in Brighton, or you could be cited and fined for annoying someone. I kid you not. Annoying speech has been banned. All that’s needed to find yourself on the wrong side of the law is a complaint from someone who is annoyed by you, or a Brighton police officer catching you in the act of saying something that annoys him, or her. I’m guessing something like a pro-life opinion would be deemed annoying by the liberal chief of police. Eventually, someone will point out to them that the courts have already ruled viewpoint discrimination is unconstitutional. Lawsuits in 3..2…

Brighton, Michigan, apparently wants to stop “annoying” free speech.

The Brighton City Council recently passed a strict code for public conduct, and those who violate the law, including those who annoy someone else, could be cited and fined. LivingstonDaily.com reports Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman issued the ordinance. Even though the edict features the word “annoy” at least twice, he contends it “is not for somebody that says something annoying” but rather for “some course of action for repeated acts.”

Gary Glenn, head of American Family Association of Michigan, disagrees. “I think this ordinance in Brighton is clearly unconstitutional in that it attempts to restrict people’s exercise of their free-speech rights based on the content of their speech,” he says. “That’s clearly viewpoint discrimination.”

Police Chief Wightman says the ordinance would apply more to verbal interactions than an upsetting or annoying T-shirt, for example. However, Glen believes it could have a negative effect on individuals and pro-family groups.

“If someone dared, in a public place in Brighton, expressed their sincere religious conviction — for example, that homosexual behavior is sinful — obviously if someone was offended or insulted or even ‘annoyed,’ as the ordinance says, they might try to bring charges against somebody for merely expressing their sincerely held Christian beliefs,” he points out.

The town is ripe for a lawsuit, says Glenn, if officials try to enforce the new decree.
