    Top Ten Wackiest Street Names

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 7:47 pm

There’s a plethora of news relayed on this site that makes us grumble, gripe, and raises the blood pressure. A little laughter could be beneficial, so I thought I’d include this item. It seems that Mitsubishi Motors sponsored a poll for the wackiest street names in the U.S. Without further delay, here are the top ten:

    10. Tater Peeler Road in Lebanon, Texas

    9. The intersection of Count and Basie in Richmond, Va.

    8. Shades of Death Road in Warren County, N.J.

    7. Unexpected Road in Buena, N.J.

    6. Bucket of Blood Street in Holbrook, Ariz.

    5. The intersection of Clinton and Fidelity in Houston

    4. The intersection of Lonesome and Hardup in Albany, Ga.

    3. Farfrompoopen Road in Tennessee (the only road up to Constipation Ridge)

    2. Divorce Court in Heather Highlands, Pa.

    1. Psycho Path in Traverse City, Mich.

I found #5 to be particularly amusing. Those wacky Houstonians! :)

Chaplain Rebels at Prayer Censorship, Then Removed From Assignment

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 10:10 pm

The military is still punishing Chaplains and telling them how they are allowed to pray. Another chaplain has been removed from his chapel because he used the name of Jesus in a prayer. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves. THIS is what “separation of Church and state” was intended to prevent. Jefferson wanted to prevent the government from controlling and regulating religion. If people are told how to pray, and certain religions are forbidden, how can the United States claim they support freedom of religion. All of us need to contact our representatives in Congress and let them know what we think of the government getting into the business of regulating prayer.

Another military chaplain has gotten into trouble with his superiors because he has refused to go along with orders not to pray in the name of Jesus.

Captain Jonathan Stertzbach is an Army chaplain assigned to the 10th Mountain Division in Iraq. He was recently removed from his chapel after he commented to the Washington Times about how chaplains of all faiths are being told to offer up only non-sectarian prayers.

Chaplain Stertzbach is now under orders not to talk to the media — but his representative, Dr. Billy Baugham of the International Conference of Evangelical Chaplain Endorsers, is under no such restrictions. According to Baugham, Stertzbach was upset at having a prayer censored.

“He was told to write out his prayer,” Baugham explains, “and when they saw ‘In Jesus’ name. Amen,’ his brigade chaplain struck through it and said, ‘You’re going to have to change it.’”

Baugham says Stertzbach’s response was that he cannot pray a prayer unless he uses Jesus’ name. The chaplain, adds Baugham, said: “My local church is an independent Baptist church, and that’s the way we pray.”

The retired Army chaplain adamantly notes that military regulations forbid restrictions on chaplains’ prayers. “There are Department of Defense instructions which state that a chaplain is to adhere to the faith group of his tenets before they do the military,” Baugham says. “[A chaplain] has no authority to pray any other prayer other than what his sending agency or his sending church allows him to pray.”

In short, says Baugham, a chaplain’s duty is to represent his faith group. “It’s not to represent another faith group, it’s not to represent the prayers of the United States government or the United States Army,” he says. “He can only speak for his endorsing agency, be that what it may be.”

Baugham indicates he is working with North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones and others to get Chaplain Stertzbach reinstated to his chapel.

Bush: Ports Deal Nothing to Worry About

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:34 pm

I’ve been waiting until I had all of the facts to comment on the Dubai Ports World deal. When the story first broke, I’ll admit I was troubled, but I also sensed that the conservative blogs and the rightwing commentators were doing a bit of over reacting. Their arguments against the UAE deal centered around the fact that the company was Arab, and they had no real facts to back up their rage. Those who complained that two of the 9/11 highjackers came from the UAE had to ignore the fact that those highjackers were also schooled in European countries and took flight training classes right here in the U.S. That means nothing other than the UAE has terrorist inside its borders too. The terrorists that launched the 7/7 attack in Europe were from Britain, but no one had a problem with a British company running our ports. Now that I have heard the facts, I see absolutely no problems with this deal going forward. Here’s a list of the reasons that brought me to this conclusion:

    1. Since 9/11 the UAE has been a solid Ally in the War on Terror. They’ve been a valuable resource to our intelligence agencies, they have arrested several wanted Al Qaeda terrorists, and we need them to continue fighting that war.

    2. The UAE’s ports are the most used ports by our military outside of the U.S. Hundreds of our ships went in and out of Dubai last year, including over 500 of our war ships, making them a huge asset in the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. According to the military, the ports in Dubai, which are run by Dubai Ports World are the best around. This begs the question, why weren’t politicians concerned about security before now? Perhaps because they knew that the UAE was responsible for capturing the terrorists that bombed the USS Cole. They are capturing terrorists for us, not supporting them. That’s not to say there are not terrorists living inside the UAE. But, there are also terrorists living in every other country around the globe, including the United States.

    3. I’ve listened to the opinion of several analysts, officials, and diplomats, all of whom know more about the Middle East than the politicians we elect, and the vast majority of them see no threat to our national security. In fact, they believe that spitting in the eye of a close ally would be far more dangerous to our national security than allowing a UAE company to take over ports that were previously run by a British company. We need the UAE’s continued help and can’t afford to shun them simply because they’re Arabs. They’ve contributed money, supplies, and personnel to the Iraq war and the war in Afghanistan. They’ve trained Iraqi security personnel, and given us access to their country for transport and operations in support of the war. We don’t want Arab countries to think that helping the U.S. will be rewarded with a slap in the face.

    4. Fourteen agencies reviewed this deal, and not one of them saw a threat to our national security. It also doesn’t make sense that a President who has been accused of being too aggressive in the war on terror, and who has a record of working hard to protect this country, would suddenly allow a company that’s a security risk to run our ports.

    5. I believe many people have misunderstood what Dubai Ports World’s role will be in managing our ports. There aren’t going to be Arabs running or securing our ports. The same people that have been working at our ports under the current British company, will be working there under the new UAE company. Homeland security will still be responsible for port security, there will still be oversight, and we’re not going to be handing over all of our port security information to terrorists.

    6. We have a strategic Air Base in the EAE that our military will need should we have to use military force against Iran. The Dubai ports will also be critical in a war with Iran.

    7. And, finally I’d just like to comment that I thought Democrats didn’t like racial profiling. It must be okay now.

No matter what your opinion is now, make sure you listen to all the facts before you come to a final conclusion. Leave the over reactions based on emotion and not facts to the Democrats.

President Bush on Thursday said Americans shouldn’t fret over the controversial ports deal involving a United Arab Emirates-owned company that has taken Washington and state lawmakers by storm.

“People don’t need to worry about security,” Bush said after meeting with his Cabinet about a White House report issued Thursday regarding the national response to Hurricane Katrina.

“We wouldn’t go forward if we were concerned about the security of the United States of America,” the president added.

The president’s comments come on the heels of a firestorm of criticism over a deal that would allow the UAE-owned Dubai Ports World to take over operations at six U.S. ports. The deal has lawmakers from both sides of the aisle screaming for a more thorough review of the deal and arguing that the deal with threaten port security in the United States that already is lacking. Bush has vowed to veto any bill aimed at halting the commercial transaction.

“The more people learn about the transaction that has been scrutinized and improved by my government, the more they’ll be comforted that our ports will be secure,” Bush said, adding that port security will still be run by U.S. Customs and the Coast Guard. “The UAE has been a valuable partner in fighting the War on Terror. A lot of goods are shipped from ports to the United States managed by this company.”

Michigan Imam: Death to Those Who “Defile” Mohammed

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:39 pm

An Imam right here in the United States is calling for the death of anyone who insults Islam and Islam’s prophets. Judging by his narrow view of what constitutes “harming” a prophet of Islam, most of the bloggers in the blogosphere and people like Ben and I, who run an apologetics website, should be killed. For those who comfort themselves by believing these radical Imams are only operating in Middle Eastern countries, this is yet another wake up call. With Islam’s leaders calling for the murder of Americans that criticize their violent religion, how long do you think it will really be before the deadly riots and targeted killings start here? This Imam is inciting Muslims to murder Americans. Freedom of speech rights don’t include death threats, and this guy shouldn’t be allowed to continue indoctrinating people into the death cult we’re fighting a war against. Sadly, you’ll here similar speech at conferences held regularly in Chicago and other American cities.

A Muslim leader of a Michigan mosque with links to a man who taught confessed shoe-bomber Richard Reid at the Finsbury Park Mosque, has called for the “physical death” of those who “defile” the Prophet Mohamed and other Prophets of Islam, describing it as “blasphemy”.

Hanafi Abdul-Malik, Imam of the downtown Flint Michigan mosque Muslim House made the statements to a reporter for the Flint Journal.

The article in the Journal quotes Abdul-Malik as saying:

“Muslims respect God and all his prophets,” Adbul-Malik said. “We would not bring harm to any of them.”
“For anyone to defile any of them as has been done to the prophet Muhammad is blasphemy,” he said. “We think the consequence for doing so is physical death.”

Intern fired for sharing her faith on her own time

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 1:47 pm

Another Christian was fired for discussing her Christian faith with others AFTER WORK HOURS. I certainly hope the courts will end this kind of discrimination and send a message to employers that they have no right to regulate our religious beliefs or our lives outside of work. The people who filed the complaints about their Christian co-worker, were, no doubt, “tolerant” progressives who would never tolerate such intolerance and censorship if it were directed at them.

A former graduate student who lost an internship for discussing her Christian faith with co-workers has filed a federal lawsuit.

Jacqueline Escobar was completing a master’s degree in social work at California State University Long Beach when she interned with the Department of Children and Family Services, or DCFS.

A straight-A student, Escobar was complimented regularly by the DCFS for her work. But she came under scrutiny for sharing her faith with co-workers during lunch breaks and after-hours, and for changing into a shirt with a religious message – “Found” – after signing out for the day, according to the Pacific Justice Institute, which is representing her.

Escobar was directed to stop sharing her faith, even during breaks and after work hours.

Also, the university ordered her to sign a document admitting she had “an inability to separate her religious beliefs from her role” as an intern.

She refused to sign the document, arguing she couldn’t agree to such a sweeping prohibition that included her religious practice during non-working hours.

Consequently, Escobar was terminated from her internship and threatened with expulsion from the graduate program.

UN Asked to Protect Religious Sensibilities

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 12:41 pm

Muslim leaders just don’t get it. They’re asking the United Nations to ban any criticism of Islam. I don’t doubt that the U.N. would love to end freedom of speech and start prosecuting people in the ICC for saying anything negative about their pet religions, but it’s not going to happen. Even Europe hasn’t been dhimmified enough to do away with freedom of speech to that extreme. Well. . . . .PARTS of Europe haven’t stooped to that level of Dhimmitude. Germany is already locking people up for insulting the Religion of Pieces. Canada would also likely support any resolution that might satisfy the Muslims in their country. However, if these Islamic leaders think their riots, death, and destruction will scare countries like the United States into giving up the freedoms they fought and died for, they’re sorely mistaken. There is no universal right to not be offended. Get over it.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference, a 57 member Muslim voting block, has asked the United Nations to take measures against what they call “Islamophobia.” Thomas Jacobson is with Focus on the Family Action

“What the Arab nations are asking the UN to do is to protect them from any criticism against their religion. And that is not something that the UN should do.”

Jacobson says the United Nations would be opposing the tenants of its founding.

“They should not be suppressing human rights, they were formed to protect and preserve human rights and to encourage countries to do the same.”
Sources say there is little chance the UN will adopt the Islamic program, which include a new definition of freedom of speech. Jared Leland of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

“I doubt that the United States would sign an international agreement binding them to something that in essence would place a burden or restrict First Amendment rights over here.”

Future Jihad author Walid Phares warns the United Nations about turning a theological issue into a political one.

“If we open that Pandora’s Box then all religious groups are going to come and transform all legal systems, including international law.”

Phares believes the request puts the UN at “a moment of truth.”

    Pro-Israel Christians join forces

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 12:20 pm

It’s nice to see Christians making the news for supporting Israel rather than for boycotts and supporting the Palestinians. Christians who support Israel are a definite majority, but a few prominent, more ecumenical denominations have dominated the headlines with their anti-Israel bias, while the numerous pro-Israel Christian groups in the U.S. have been largely ignored. This new umbrella organization may give the majority a larger voice and force the media to stop misrepresenting us. It’s also good to see the Jewish community understanding who their real allies are.

Pro-Israeli Christian groups operating in the United States have decided to form an umbrella organization that will engage in lobbying efforts in Washington beginning this coming summer.

The organization, made up of mostly evangelical groups, will also open offices across the country, hold events in support of Israel, offer political, financial and public relations support, and work to strengthen the strategic alliance between the U.S. and Israel.

This umbrella organization is expected to comprise some 30-35 million American evangelists who have until now operated separately, and will act similarly to the way the Jewish lobby operates in the U.S.

The new organization will be led by John Hagee, an influential evangelist with some put at the White House, who heads a congregation of
tens of thousands of worshippers in San Antonio, Texas. Hagee’s Sunday sermons are broadcast to millions of American viewers on television.

Some two weeks ago, Hagee convened 400 heads of Christian congregations and organizations, representing 30-35 million Americans, to discuss the establishment of the umbrella organization, set to be directed by Hagee himself. Israel’s Ambassador in Washington Danny Ayalon later hosted a special meeting with 80 Christian leaders, including Robert Stern, designated to serve as vice chairman of the organization.

In July, heads of the group are scheduled to arrive in D.C. and present their initiative before members of Congress.

Officials: Al-Qaeda to strike this year

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:59 am

What will the United States and the rest of the world do when Israel is attacked by the same terrorist group that launched the 9/11 attacks in the U.S., and the 7/7 attacks in London? If Al Qaeda does attack Israel this year, the West will no longer be able to excuse the mass murder of Jews as justified retaliation by the poor Palestinians. Israel is already being attacked by the same terrorists we’re fighting, but the media and our government have been successful in convincing people there’s a difference. An Al Qaeda attack makes it impossible to deny that Israel is also fighting in the war on terror. I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if they come up with a new, creative way to blame the Jews for global terrorism.

Global Jihad has Israel in its sights: Security officials estimate that 2006 is the “target year” set by the global al-Qaeda terror network to carry out a mega-terror attack in Israel, the country’s leading newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported Thursday.

The disturbing report follows official confirmation by IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Moshe Wednesday that global Jihad forces maintain regular
bases in Lebanon and Jordan. However, the details released by Kaplinsky are apparently only the tip of the iceberg.

Security authorities were able to detect two years ago the shift in priorities of global Jihad terrorists with regards to Israel, which has been “upgraded” to the rank of a major target, mostly due to personnel and ideological changes within global terror networks.

This shift has been manifested, among other things, through public declarations by leading international terrorists.

Recently, terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who operates in Iraq, declared his organization plans to carry out an attack in Israel. Of no less concern, global Jihad forces have deployed in countries around Israel, namely Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon – where they concentrate mostly in and around refugee camps.

Meanwhile, officials speak of an emerging al-Qaeda network in the Gaza Strip as well.

Syria has also been implicated and serves as a transfer point for terrorists heading to Iraq. For al-Zarqawi, Syria is also a transfer point and base for terrorists planning to carry out attacks in Jordan and Israel. Currently, Syria is home to countless terror camps and hosts numerous terror elements.

Unfortunately, Syria is also the likely home of Saddam Hussein’s WMD. Israel’s concessions have gotten them new Al Qaeda terrorist camps in Gaza and an open border with Egypt controlled by terrorists who may have access to WMD in Syria. This is what happens when you try to justify terrorism while fighting a war against the same. One step forward, two steps back.

    Hamas received funds from Louisiana?

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:31 am

It’s disturbing that, over 4 years after 9/11, money is still being funneled through “charities” in the United States to fund terrorist groups in the Middle East. As long as political correctness and pandering to CAIR is the priority instead of national security, terror groups will continue to receive millions from U.S. Muslim groups. But, don’t you dare hurt their feelings or spy on them.

A man Hamas identifies as its leader in the United States helped raise $500,000 to build a new mosque in Baton Rouge, La., but channeled most of the money to the terrorist group overseas, federal authorities suspect.

Mohammed El-Mezain coordinates fund raising for an Ohio-based charity called KindHearts, which is under investigation by the U.S. Treasury Department for its potential links to terrorist activity.

The Treasury Department says most of the money raised in Louisiana may have been moved overseas to the Palestinian group, regarded by the U.S. as a terrorist organization, reports the Advocate newspaper of Baton Rouge.

El-Mezain was the keynote speaker at a dinner in October 2003 where Muslims in Baton Rouge donated funds to build a local mosque.

A Treasury Department announcement said, however, “only a small amount” of the money raised “was to be retained locally and the vast majority was to be sent to Hamas overseas.”

Rocket hell to rain on Israel

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:15 am

It’s looking like the 3rd intifada will get underway soon. That’s not to say that the terror attacks have ever stopped, but an escalation is coming. Following so many unilateral concessions by Israel, and a terrorist group taking over the Palestinian government, it was inevitable.

I am not going to give you these details, but we are planning to be present all around the West Bank. Every Israeli target is a legitimate target. Wherever there is an Israeli soldier or settler they will find our rockets. Jerusalem, Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv and every Israeli point can be part of our goals. Whenever it is needed, rockets will be fired against every Israeli settlement, city or neighborhood. We know that Israeli central cities are more sensitive targets and they contain more sensitive targets, but we will not hesitate to fire rockets everywhere against the Zionist enemy.

We have succeeded with the help of Allah to start our plan to transfer rocket technology to the West Bank. I can tell you the rocket cell from our group that Israel recently arrested in Bethlehem was not the only one to act in the West Bank. The bases for rocket networks and technology are already installed in the West Bank, and their operational capacities should be ready in full in the next few months. Israelis should wait for a revolution very soon.

I have a great idea. Israel should give them more of the West Bank, and demand nothing in return.

We are speaking about Nasser rockets with medium distance that hold normal and not primitive explosives. As I told you, the enemy should wait to see our rockets in action. We have invested very much these last few months in improving our rockets and thanks to Allah their distance, accuracy and their hurting capacity has improved. We call on (Israel’s Shin Bet Security chief Yuval) Diskin (who oversaw the arrest of our rocket network in Bethlehem announced this week) and tell him not to be so happy and proud. There is much more to come. The lives of Israeli citizens will turn to hell very soon.

Muhammad taught in the Quran that treaties and cease fire agreements should be used only to build up your army for the next battle. It looks like that’s exactly what Hamas and the other terrorist groups have been doing.

    Homosexual Activists’ War Against Christianity

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 9:33 pm

Some people mock the words “homosexual agenda”. They think Christians are guilty of paranoia by assigning a particular agenda to homosexuals. However, this excellent and enlightening report from Agape Press shows the predictions of homosexual activists two decades ago, the tactics they used to further their agenda, and just how far they’ve come. This is a must-read for Christians. Christ commands us to love all people, but we are to resist sin. If this report isn’t a wake-up call to Christendom, then the bride of Christ is comatose.

(AgapePress) – “All churches who condemn us will be closed.” That was what Michael Swift, a “gay revolutionary,” declared in a February 1987 issue of the Gay Community News.

“Michael Swift” was a pseudonym, and the first line of the now-infamous homosexual rant — which was even reprinted in the Congressional Record — claimed that the entire piece was a “cruel fantasy” that explained “how the oppressed desperately dream of being the oppressor.”

The “dream” was filled with a nightmare scenario that seemed like something out of a fascist coup d’etat: “All laws banning homosexual activity will be revoked …. [W]e shall make films about the love between heroic men …. The family unit — spawning ground of lies, betrayals, mediocrity, hypocrisy and violence — will be abolished …. All churches who condemn us will be closed.”

As the article found its way into Christian publications, believers were horrified, and homosexual activists tried to make light of its contents, claiming that it was intended merely as a satire.

Not many Christians, however, saw the humor in Swift’s sentiments, such as the following: “We shall sodomize your sons …. We shall seduce them in your schools, in your dormitories, in your gymnasiums, in your locker rooms, in your sports arenas, in your seminaries, in your youth groups, in your movie theater bathrooms, in your army bunkhouses, in your truck stops, in your all-male clubs, in your houses of Congress, wherever men are with men together.”…

The above is a small excerpt. The full article is highly recommended reading.

British Politician Encourages Christian Involvement in Politics

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 9:21 pm

From a politician across the pond come words of wisdom. John Taylor, a member of the British House of Lords spoke recently to the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Dallas, Texas. He urged Christians to become more politically active, lest our free speech become outlawed as hate speech. He used a frightening example from the U.K. that could hit very close to home in the future unless Christians start to run for office and carefully choose the candidates for whom they will vote.

A member of the British House of Lords has told the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention in Dallas that biblical preaching could be outlawed unless Christians become more politically active.

Recently the British Parliament nearly passed legislation that would have amended that nation’s Racial and Religious Hatred Bill and outlawed incitement to religious hatred. The measure lost by a single vote — the vote of Prime Minister Tony Blair, who left early, confident that the bill would pass without him.

John Taylor, a member of the House of Lords, spoke at this week’s NRB gathering in Texas. Taylor said passage of the bill could have led to pastors being arrested for so-called “hate speech.” Unless Christians take action, says Taylor, clergy in his country — as well as in the United States — could fall victim to such statutes, should they be enacted.

“There’s an old saying that things won’t change until people change,” Taylor says. “So we can moan about these [political] institutions and so forth, or we can basically get in there. We are called to be salt and light — so why don’t we take over the Senate and Congress and so forth?”

According to Taylor, Christians in Britain have virtually abandoned politics. He says there is a “kind of lethargy” in Christians that often causes them to retreat from the political arena, saying “Well, that’s politics; we don’t get involved in politics.” But try telling that to Muslims, he adds.

“There are Muslim Members of Parliament who are sponsored by mosques. They are there to preach Islam,” he says. “In the House of Lords, there’s a room where you can pray to Mecca — but there’s no room where you can pray to Christ.”

Taylor calls it a “miracle” that the prime minister was absent for the final vote. Earlier, members of Parliament had voted 288-278 to back the amendment to the bill.

A BBC report quotes one member of Parliament as saying “the government just failed to understand that they can’t take liberties with freedom of expression. This [vote] has showed … that we will stand up for freedom of expression.” That report notes this was only the second defeat of government-backed legislation in almost ten years.

We’ve already seen Christians in Canada and Europe dragged before tribunals simply for expressing their deeply-held religious beliefs. God’s Word contains what some view as hate speech in its condemnation of homosexuality. Romans 1 cannot be read over the airwaves in Canada. A Canadian man was found guilty for hate speech simply for posting a Bible verse in the newspaper classifieds. A pastor in Sweden was charged for preaching the gospel from the pulpit of his church. We cannot afford to believe this will never happen in the United States. Christians must become politically active if we want to preserve our religious freedoms.

Congress and President Urged to Protect Military Chaplains’ Rights

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 8:57 pm

New Air Force guidelines that are supposedly designed to protect the first amendment rights of military chaplains may hamper them. If President Bush and/or congress do not act soon, this policy may prohibit military chaplains of all services from praying in Jesus’ name during official functions.

A Navy chaplain who went on an 18-day hunger strike for the right to pray in Jesus’ name says new guidelines adopted by the U.S. Air Force might be expanded to cover America’s other armed forces as well. However, he believes those regulations would end up restricting free speech and religious expression.

Lieutenant Gordon Klingenschmitt says the Air Force’s new policy does nothing to free up chaplains and other Christian military personnel to pray according to their own religious traditions. Instead, the regulations require inclusive or nondenominational prayers at public events — which, he points out, in effect prohibits praying in Jesus’ name.

Klingenschmitt fears the Air Force regulations regarding prayer may eventually become policy throughout the U.S. military. “The Secretary of Defense has indicated that, when these guidelines are finalized, they will be implemented across all the Armed Services, telling Army, Navy, and Air Force chaplains that they are not allowed to pray in Jesus name,” he notes.

Already, the Christian Naval officer points out, some believers in uniform have had to take legal action to fight what he believes amounts to religious persecution in the U.S. armed services. “Many chaplains are suing because they can’t get promoted,” he says. “They’re passed over for promotions. Sixty-five chaplains in the Navy, and Congressman Jones has complaints from over 130 chaplains, including Army and Air Force chaplains who were all punished for their faith.”

The new Air Force guidelines on public prayer are “basically the same as the old guidelines,” Klingenschmitt contends. “They still require what they call nondenominational prayers, which is just a code for saying no Jesus — you cannot pray in Jesus name. And if these Air Force guidelines are implemented in the Navy, I will definitely take legal action.”

The best way to resolve the issue, the Navy chaplain asserts, would be for the federal legislature to get involved to enact a policy on prayer that safeguards the First Amendment rights of military personnel, or for President Bush to issue an executive order to that effect.

“We need congressional oversight,” Klingenschmitt insists. “We still need the President to step in and protect free speech for military chaplains.”

On a related note, keep this lawsuit in your prayers. It is imperative that this constitutionally ignorant plaintiff not be allowed to prevail in his suit against the Air Force.

The Air Force has filed in federal court here new guidelines on religion as part of its fight against a lawsuit by an Air Force Academy graduate who alleges the school’s senior officers and cadets illegally impose Christianity on others.

The Justice Department has asked U.S. District Judge James Parker to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that the Air Force has no official policy of proselytizing….

Ohio Drops Science Education Standards Requiring Critical Analysis of Darwinism

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 8:45 pm

In light of the previous post, this is particularly ridiculous:

Students in Ohio public schools will no longer be taught the controversy surrounding the theory of evolution. The Ohio Board of Education has voted to repeal both its “Critical Analysis of Evolution” lesson plan and the benchmark in the state science standards that required critical analysis of evolution.

Casey Luskin with the Seattle, Washington-based Discovery Institute, a leading intelligent design think tank, says a group of Darwinists convinced members of the Ohio Board of Education that critiquing evolution is equivalent to bringing intelligent design or creationism into the classroom.

Somehow, the board members failed to recognize the fact that the original state-approved science standards “explicitly stated that the Ohio science standards did not require the teaching of intelligent design,” Luskin says. Still, he insists, the argument that critique of evolutionary theory must necessarily involve bringing religion into the classroom is a “Darwinist charade” that will not succeed forever.

After all, the Discovery Institute spokesman notes, evidence suggests the majority of Ohio citizens would prefer to see students across the state receive a balanced science education. A recent poll found 69 percent of Ohioans want the strengths and weaknesses of evolutionary theory taught in schools.

“You would think that the board members would be sensitive to what the public wants and the fact that there are many legitimate scientific critiques of evolution that would be educationally beneficial for students to know about,” Luskin laments. “I just find it very unfortunate that a majority of the Ohio State Board of Education essentially did not recognize what the people of Ohio clearly want.”

Luskin believes the Ohio education officials were unfairly pressured and browbeaten into a bad decision by proponents of Darwinism. “In my opinion, what took place was the result of people who oppose objective evolution education using, basically, false fears and fear tactics to bully the board into dropping what is a very good policy,” he says.

During the Scopes Monkey trial, ACLU attorney Clarence Darrow stated that it is “the height of bigotry to teach only one view of origins.” Now it seems that it is not only “proper” to teach only one view of origins, but the evolutionists are so dogmatic about their doctrine that they fight even scientific criticisms of evolution! What are they afraid of? The truth!

Over 500 Scientists Proclaim Their Doubts About Evolution

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 8:37 pm

The list of scientists adding their names to Discovery Institute‘s “A Scientific Dissent from Darwinism” is growing:

SEATTLE — Over 500 doctoral scientists have now signed a statement publicly expressing their skepticism about the contemporary theory of Darwinian evolution.

The statement reads: “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

The list of 514 signatories includes member scientists from the prestigious US and Russian National Academy of Sciences. Signers include 154 biologists, the largest single scientific discipline represented on the list, as well as 76 chemists and 63 physicists. Signers hold doctorates in biological sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, computer science, and related disciplines. Many are professors or researchers at major universities and research institutions such as MIT, The Smithsonian, Cambridge University, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, the Ohio State University, the University of Georgia, and the University of Washington.

Discovery Institute first published its Scientific Dissent From Darwinism list in 2001 to challenge false statements about Darwinian evolution made in promoting PBS’s “Evolution” series. At the time it was claimed that “virtually every scientist in the world believes the theory to be true.”

“Darwinists continue to claim that no serious scientists doubt the theory and yet here are 500 scientists who are willing to make public their skepticism about the theory,” said Dr. John G. West, associate director of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science & Culture. “Darwinist efforts to use the courts, the media and academic tenure committees to suppress dissent and stifle discussion are in fact fueling even more dissent and inspiring more scientists to ask to be added to the list.”

According to West, it was the fast growing number of scientific dissenters which encouraged the Institute to launch a website — www.dissentfromdarwin.org — to give the list a permanent home. The website is the Institute’s response to the demand for information and access to the list both by the public, and by scientists who want to add their name to list.

“Darwin’s theory of evolution is the great white elephant of contemporary thought,” said Dr. David Berlinski, one of the original signers, a mathematician and philosopher of science with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture (CSC). “It is large, almost completely useless, and the object of superstitious awe.”

Other prominent signatories include U.S. National Academy of Sciences member Philip Skell; American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow Lyle Jensen; evolutionary biologist and textbook author Stanley Salthe; Smithsonian Institution evolutionary biologist and a researcher at the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Biotechnology Information Richard von Sternberg; Editor of Rivista di Biologia / Biology Forum –the oldest still published biology journal in the world– Giuseppe Sermonti; and Russian Academy of Natural Sciences embryologist Lev Beloussov.

MSM Gives Muslim Attackers A Pass While Covering Christian Attacks

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 9:37 pm

The AP via ABCNews.com has revealed a sad and disgusting bias. They didn’t cover the Muslim attacks on Christians in Nigeria. Some of the attacks were sparked by the Danish cartoons, and involved Muslims killing Christians and burning churches:

Nigeria’s unrest was the bloodiest and most sectarian yet seen, with crowds in the mainly Muslim north turning on the Christian minority.

In Maiduguri, the capital of the state of Borno, Muslims turned on local Christians after police broke up a rally against the drawings, burning shops and churches and killing 15 people, police spokesperson Haz Iwendi said.

At the same time, in the city of Katsina, police opened fire into a crowd of stone-throwers, killing one and injuring others, he said. Churches were also burned in Katsina, he added, but could not say how many.

Another story (not at ABC or AP) found that some Christians were burned inside the churches:

At least 17 people, including a Catholic priest, were killed and 30 churches burned in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri when Muslims protesting cartoons caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad turned on local Christians, police said.

Nigerian police spokesman Haz Iwendi said a crowd of protesters in the predominantly Muslim city targeted the Christian minority, burning and looting their shops and churches on Saturday.

“We can confirm that 17 persons were killed, 30 churches and five hotels were also burnt,” Iwendi told IRIN.

Felix Usman, the priest in charge of St Augustine’s Catholic Church in Maiduguri, said he was lucky to escape when his church was attacked and burned by protesters. Another colleague, Matthew Gajere, in charge of St Rita’s Catholic Church, was burned to death by rioters inside his church, Usman said.

Sadly, a large majority of the MSM was absent during this anti-Christian violence. However, now that Christians have responded to these attacks, the MSM is on the job. This AP article on ABCNews.com, entitled, “Anti-Muslim Riot in Nigeria Turns Deadly” starts off:

Christian mobs rampaged through a southern Nigerian city Tuesday, burning mosques and killing several people in an outbreak of anti-Muslim violence that followed deadly protests against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad over the weekend.

Residents and witnesses in the southern, predominantly Christian city of Onitsha said several Muslims with origins in the north were beaten to death by mobs which also burned two mosques there.

Yup. Now that Christians can be portrayed as the bad guys here, the MSM is ready to jump into the fray. Disgusting.

Yahoo!Mail bans Allah in e-mail addresses

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 9:26 pm

More words will be censored to avoid hurting the feelings of sensitive, rioting, decapitating, church burning Muslims. Yahoo now prohibits using the word Allah in an e-mail address because, of course, it would be blasphemous. However, Jesus, God, Messiah, Buddha, and Satan are perfectly acceptable. How long before American women are required to wear a head covering and walk ten paces behind men so as not to cause Muslim men hurt and anguish?

Yahoo! is banning the use of allah in email names – even if the letters are included within another name.

This was uncovered by Reg reader Ed Callahan whose mother Linda Callahan was trying to sign up for a Verizon email address. She could not get it to accept her surname.

Enquiries to Verizon revealed that a partnership with Yahoo! was to blame. Yahoo! will not accept any identies which include the letters “allah”.

Nor will Yahoo! accept yahoo, osama or binladen. But it will accept god, messiah, jesus, jehova, buddah, satan and both priest and pedophile.

Ed Callahan told us: “On one level this is just silliness. But we have a war on terrorism and it’s migrating to be a war on Muslims – this just shows the confusion there is between the two and how pervasive this is.”

The Callahans are still waiting to hear back from Yahoo!

A spokesman for Yahoo! UK said: “This sounds like a glitch. But we will get back to Ed and Lindy Callahan with a full answer as soon as possible.” .

NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS: OUR APPEASEMENT AND MSM SILENCE IS KILLING US

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:05 pm

In light of the media’s recent over reaction to Cheney’s hunting accident, their complete or near blackout of any Cartoon Jihad coverage is very telling. You would think the rampaging, killing, and religious cleansing going on in Islamic countries would be a bigger story. When Christians are being killed, though, it’s always ignored. And, anything that might make Islam look like the death cult that it is, is always censored. Unfortunately, too many people are completely unaware that they’re being misled. If more people had a clue about the news that can be found on the internet, the MSM would be history and the world MIGHT not continue to ignore the Muslim extermination of Christians and Jews.

I know, I have written about this before. At that time a Nigerian left this comment on my site:

This REFUSAL of the press to mount a HUGE OUTCRY is GETTING US KILLED. . . . If they’d all come out in unison and HOWLED THEIR DISGUST, it might have quelled the riots and shamed the Muslims into ceasing this obscene behaviour. As it is, Muslims see nothing is going to happen to them for howling and they are going to up the ante. The REAL STORY IS THE PRESS REFUSAL TO COVER THIS. WHY?

Now, oh, my God, the machetes have come out. Remember Rwanda? Christians again are murdered (not by Muslims!) in their churches.

You really want to cry? The poor Christians apparently knew what was coming and tried appeasement. On Feb. 3, the BBC reported:

    Nigeria’s Christians back Muslims

An umbrella Nigerian Christian body based in the majority Muslim north has condemned the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

Now they realize that it was the wrong move, as their appeasement has been interpreted as weakness. Indeed, the cartoons are used to further the goal of turning Nigeria into an Islamic state.

This should be a lesson to all of us. Muslims only understand strength. Appeasement only encourages them to keep the Jihad going (see Israel for the perfect example).

Deadly viruses mutating to infect humans at rate never seen before

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:30 am

AT least one new disease is jumping the species barrier from animals to human beings every year, exposing people to emerging germs at a rate that may be unprecedented.

The first work to catalogue the range of germs capable of infecting people has disclosed that 38 new human pathogens have emerged in the past 25 years. Three quarters of these, including Aids, avian flu, Sars and new variant CJD, originated as animal diseases.

The survey, led by Mark Woolhouse, of the University of Edinburgh, has identified more than 1,400 pathogens that can cause disease in human beings, at least 800 of which crossed the species barrier from animals.

While it is not known whether the rate at which diseases are jumping species is accelerating, Dr Woolhouse said it was impossible that human beings had been exposed to so many new pathogens so quickly through most of history.

Changes in human behaviour and the environment, such as bushmeat hunting, intensive agriculture, the ease of long-distance travel and global warming, were all likely to be helping animal germs to acquire the ability to infect people.

Daniel 12:4 But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.

“The rate of accumulation we are seeing now is too fast to be supported over an evolutionary timescale,” he told the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in St Louis yesterday. “We would be overrun with pathogens.

“Either many of these pathogens will not persist in humans, or there is something very unusual about the present time. The most obvious explanation is the pace and scale of change in the ways humans interact with their environment, providing new opportunities for humans to be exposed to and to transmit novel pathogens.”

Luke 21:10-11 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Cheering tidbits lighten otherwise grim week

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:36 pm

Mark Steyn’s article in the Sun Times is a must read. He contrasts the media’s response to Dick Cheney’s hunting accident with their censorship of a cartoon that has caused death and destruction around the world.

In an otherwise grim week — at least on unimportant peripheral matters like Iranian nukes — three things cheered me up. The first was the decision of Iran’s bakers to rename Danish pastries “Roses of the Prophet Muhammed pastries.” Has a ring to it, don’t you think? If they’re looking for a slogan, how about “Iranian pastry: There’s nothing flakier. Except our president.”

The second cheery sight was the destruction of a McDonald’s in Lahore by the usual excitable young lads from the religion of pieces. Apparently the lively Pakistanis had burned every single Danish target in the city — one early Victor Borge LP left behind by the last British governor — and had been obliged to diversify. So they dragged Ronald McDonald out of the joint, torched him in the street and danced around his flaming remains shouting “Death to America! Death to Britain! Death to Tony Blair!”

I’m not sure I even get that. Ronald and Tony seem kind of similar from a distance but even on the all-infidels-look-alike-to-me-especially-when-they’re-alight thesis you’d think they weren’t that easily confused.

The third jolly event of the week was those other excitable fellows — the Big Media White House reporters — jumping up and down shouting “Death to Dick Cheney!” NBC’s David Gregory, the George Clooney of the press corps, was yelling truth to power about why the Elmer-Fudd-in-gun-rampage story was released to “a local Corpus Christi newspaper, not the White House press corps at large.” I know how he feels. I remember, like, four or five years ago — early September, maybe second week — there was this building collapse in New York and I had to learn about it from the TV because this notoriously secretive paranoid administration couldn’t even e-mail me a timely press release. For an NBC guy discovering that some hicksville nowhere-burg one-stop-light feed-price sheet got tipped off before he did is like a dowager duchess turning up at the royal banquet to discover the scullery maid’s been seated next to the queen.

So anyway David Gregory’s going bananas and yelling “I will yell!” and “Don’t be a jerk!” at the White House press secretary, and there’s more smoke coming out of his ears than from Ronald McDonald in Lahore, and I’m thinking, you know, maybe Karl’s latest range of Rovebots that he planted in American media corporations are just a wee bit too parodically self-absorbed to be plausible. And then this lady pipes up and asks, “Would this be much more serious if the man had died?”

Well, maybe. And maybe it would be even ever so much more serious still if, after peppering him with birdshot, Cheney had dragged him into a safe house in the Sunni Triangle and decapitated him with a rusty scimitar while shouting “Allahu Ahkbar!” and then sold the video to al-Jazeera.

Read it all. It gets even funnier.

Afghan cartoon protesters threaten to join al Qaeda

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 11:21 pm

You give them freedom of speech, and they use it to threaten to join Al Qaeda and kill you. In Afghanistan, Muslims are threatening to become terrorists as a protest against “offensive” cartoons. At least they no longer have direct access to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Hundreds of Afghan students shouted support on Monday for
Osama bin Laden and threatened to join al Qaeda during a protest against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

In an attempt to cool the controversy after a weekend of rioting in countries including Nigeria, where 28 people were killed, and Libya, where 11 died,
Pope Benedict said the world’s religions and their symbols had to be respected.

Pakistan’s main Islamist alliance vowed to broaden its campaign with more protests targeted at the U.S. and Pakistani presidents.

The protest in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad passed off without violence. Students gathered at the university campus chanted “Death to Denmark,” “Death to America” and “Death to France,” a witness said.

They also shouted support for al Qaeda leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahri.

Shouting “Death to Karzai,” they demanded President Hamid Karzai close the embassies of Denmark, the United States and France and expel their forces from
    Afghanistan.

“If they abuse the Prophet of Islam again we will all become al Qaeda,” the students shouted.

As the cartoon Jihad continued to claim lives and property today, the Pope chimed in with a bit of ecumenism and a giant diversion from reality.

In a speech to the new Moroccan ambassador to the
Vatican, the Pope said: “In order to promote peace and understanding between peoples and mankind it is both vital and urgent that religions and their symbols are respected and that believers are not the object of provocations that wound their religious feelings.”

“However, intolerance and violence can never be justified as a response to any offence, because it is a response that is incompatible with the sacred principles of religion,” he added.

Intolerance and violence IS compatible with some religions, and especially Islam. I’m so tired of hearing about wounded feelings as if it’s the most tragic thing to happen to human beings since the Holocaust. There is plenty of REAL persecution in this world. Christians are being murdered in Nigeria, China rounds up Christians regularly and sends them to reeducation camps where they’re tortured, and Christians in Africa are being driven off their land and killed. None of these things are addressed by world leaders, commented on with such urgency by the Pope, or reported by the MSM. Offend a Muslim with a stupid drawing, though, and everyone has a statement and a call for unity, harmony, and tolerance. Dead Men, women, and children in every Muslim country on the planet is a tragedy. Hurt feelings among fanatical killers is NOT.

    Muslims Attacking Christians in Nigeria

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 5:37 pm

Angered over an “intolerant” cartoon, Muslims are showing us all how to be tolerant by attacking Christians in Nigeria, and burning down Christian churches. The wide spread nature of these riots, attacks, and killings is proof that Islam is not, and never has been, a religion of peace. If there really are moderate Muslims, where are they? Why aren’t they speaking out against this death and destruction?

Nigerian Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad attacked Christians and burned churches on Saturday, killing at least 15 people in the deadliest confrontation yet in the whirlwind of Muslim anger over the drawings.

It was the first major protest to erupt over the issue in Africa’s most populous nation. An Associated Press reporter saw mobs of Muslim protesters swarm through the city center with machetes, sticks and iron rods. One group threw a tire around a man, poured gas on him and set him ablaze.

In Libya, the parliament suspended the interior minister after at least 11 people died when his security forces attacked rioters who torched the Italian consulate in Benghazi.

Right-wing Italian Reforms Minister Roberto Calderoli resigned under pressure, accused of fueling the fury in Benghazi by wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with one of the offending cartoons, first published nearly five months ago in a Danish newspaper.

A T-shirt with a supposedly offensive cartoon upsets them, but killing innocent people, burning down churches, and threatening to exterminate people is okay. This world better wake up soon. Islam isn’t a religion, it’s a plague.

U.N. Still Trying to Control the Internet

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:20 pm

The U.N. failed miserably at their attempt to take control of the internet, so they’re trying a new approach – global treaties. Wising up to the lack of public support for a regulated internet, they’re trying their new approach by using an activity people will be more willing to have regulated. A global treaty against cigarette advertising could be extended to cover advertising on the internet. Like many people, I can see the benefit of not advertising things like cigarettes and alcohol, but I also see the dangers of letting the U.N. get a foot in the door. Now it’s cigarettes, but what will they propose regulating in the future? You can bet it won’t be pornography they regulate next. It’ll be “hate speech”. And, hate speech will be defined by the United Nations, an organization that can’t come up with a definition for terrorism and calls terrorists freedom fighters.

Health officials from more than 100 countries have agreed to study widening a global tobacco control treaty to target advertising over the Internet and satellite television, the World Health Organization said on Friday.

The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which came into force a year ago, bans advertising, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco products, blamed for five million early deaths a year.

But officials from 113 countries, meeting in their first conference of the parties, which ended on Friday, found that the May 2003 pact failed to cover all cross-border advertising, senior WHO officials said.

Tobacco will prematurely end the lives of 10 million people a year by 2020 if current trends are not reversed, the WHO says. There are currently some 1.3 billion smokers worldwide.

Working parties will study legally-binding protocols to clamp down on cross-border advertising as well as illicit trade, and report back by mid-2007, the officials told a news briefing at the end of two weeks of talks.

“The blindspot was identified that there are other forms of advertising coming from non-party states being beamed into parties — Internet communication and sports sponsorship which maybe comes from satellite television,” said Douglas Bettcher, coordinator of the WHO’s Framework Tobacco Control Office.

Pro-Evolution Clergy Sign Letter Affirming Faith in Darwin’s Theory

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 9:11 pm

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” – 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NIV)

Thousands of clergy from “mainline” denominations have put their signatures to a letter affirming their faith in Darwinian evolution and repudiating the biblical account of creation. Think there isn’t an apostasy going on? Check this list to see if your pastor has “turned aside to myths.”

Thousands of mainline church leaders and pastors have signed a letter rejecting a literal interpretation of the creation story in the Bible’s Book of Genesis. The “Clergy Letter Project” signatories are urging school board members to “preserve the integrity of the science curriculum by affirming the teaching of the theory of evolution as a core component of human knowledge.”

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh administrator Michael Zimmerman, who founded the project, says the letter has been signed by more than 10,000 clergy members in every state and territory of the United States. The signatures from leaders of Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian and other mainline churches represent a “groundswell of support for the compatibility of science and religion,” he contends.

Zimmerman notes that about 450 churches across the U.S. took part in “Evolution Sunday” observances last week by holding Bible studies or offering sermons on the purported compatibility of evolution and Christianity. But those church leaders who took part in the Clergy Letter Project are asserting a very different proposition, he explains.

“These 10,000 members are saying that intelligent design, creation science, is not only bad science as defined by the world scientific community,” Zimmerman says, “but that it is also bad religion. It is not consistent with their view of their faith.”

Evolution, on the other hand, is compatible with these Christian leaders’ faith and interpretation of scripture, the University of Wisconsin official says. However, when asked to what particular faith he himself subscribes, Zimmerman declined to answer. “I’ve stayed away from that question because the issue is more who the 10,200 clergy [who have signed the letter] are and what their message is,” he says.

“I’m just a college administrator and a biologist,” the Clergy Letter Project’s founder explains, “so one person’s faith who is not a member of the clergy really is irrelevant for this particular project. The Project isn’t about my belief, but it’s about the belief of Christian leaders around the country.”

Zimmerman says the Clergy Letter Project was initiated in response to efforts to get intelligent design or biblical creation taught in schools. Specifically, he notes, he and the clergy with whom he worked to draft the letter were “called to action” by a series of anti-evolution policies passed by the school board in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.

Activists Planning to Stage ’06 World ‘Gay Pride’ Celebration in Jerusalem

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:58 pm

The homosexual crowd may end up learning the truth about the Palestinians they, as liberals, support. Somehow, I don’t think the Islamic terrorists in Jerusalem are going to appreciate a herd of homosexuals and transgender persons running around Jerusalem and hanging out near the Dome of the Rock. In Islam, gays rank right up there with Jews on the Quran’s list of people to slaughter. For their sake, I hope someone reads a Quran and figures that out before the gay pride celebration begins.

Homosexual activists are planning to stage a massive “gay pride” party and parade this summer in Jerusalem. Jerry Falwell says that’s a mistake that could backfire on the homosexual community worldwide.

Jerusalem WorldPride 2006, scheduled for August 6-12, 2006, describes itself as “a massive demonstration of LGBT [lesbian, bay, bisexual, transgender] pride and human rights” and an opportunity for the homosexual community to make a “global statement of pride and tolerance.”

“The message sent from Jerusalem WP will echo worldwide, redefining LGBT identity, faith, and vision,” says the event’s website.

Local activists held a local Jerusalem pride event last year after an August 2005 international event was scrapped and rescheduled for this coming August. Rev. Leo Giovinetti, an American pastor who has longtime connections to Israel, informed the religious community of last year’s planned WorldPride event scheduled for the Holy City. At that time the clergyman distributed petitions, signed by numerous members of the Knesset and many representatives from Christian and orthodox Jewish faith communities, that objected to a similar event scheduled for 2005.

James Hartline, a former homosexual and a member of Giovinetti’s church in San Diego, informed his pastor of last year’s event. He is deeply saddened after hearing that activists again plan on organizing an event this year. Hartline contends that Jerusalem represents the very foundation of his faith. He cannot understand “why anyone would want to engage in sodomy and pornography at the holy sites of our religious heritage.” Hartline says that people in his church are heartbroken about the news of this event.

“Christians are crying at the sight of our Jewish brothers and sisters being beaten and removed by force from their homes in the pullout from their settlements,” Hartline says. “Then to see, in the midst of this tragedy, nearly naked homosexuals and pornographers march through the city is a cruel display.”

It really says something about the gay community that their PRIDE events celebrate nudity and pornography, and promote tolerance, while offending the people of two religions by debauching themselves in their holy places.

    Liberals Don’t Understand Hunters

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:18 pm

Daniel Lapin hits the nail on the head. The left’s obsession with Cheney’s hunting accident isn’t so much about the accident itself, but their inability to understand hunters and non-city dwellers.

Iran wants to blow us to smithereens, American soldiers are fighting a deadly enemy in Iraq, and the central bank might raise interest rates – but many journalists consider only one piece of news worth reporting: Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot his friend in a hunting accident. Do you think they would have been as obsessed had Al Gore accidentally broken a friend’s leg in a skiing accident six years ago? They would have rightly ignored it because skiing is well, normal, while hunting is alien.

Not only have most liberals never gone hunting, most don’t even know anyone who goes hunting. In fact most wouldn’t know a Browning A-Bolt long action Stalker from an office stapler. They simply cannot believe that someone who hunts actually made it to the White House. It reminds me of that New York matron talking to her friend in November 1984. Ronald Reagan had just won every state except his opponent’s home state of Minnesota and she said, “I can’t believe that man won. I don’t know a single soul who voted for him.”

Liberals regard people who own firearms and who go hunting as weird. Repeatedly telling the Cheney hunting story proves that Republicans are not fit to govern a civilized country. Liberal news media really believe that reminding Americans that they have a hunter for a vice president will bring a Democratic victory.

The Bible does not treat the hunter with disdain. The Jewish patriarch, Isaac, dispatched his son Esau explicitly to hunt him some venison. Isaac wished to partake of a meat meal before delivering to his older son the Divine blessing he had received from his father Abraham. The farmer and the hunter are both needed. The farmer works hard preparing and sowing his field, but he must then wait for rain and hope the locusts stay away if he is to harvest his crop. By contrast, the hunter depends upon his own resources. If he is swift and accurate, he will eat. Self-reliance coupled with faith in God is a biblical ideal and this may be precisely why liberals disparage hunting. Not everyone is equally competent and successful in the hunt.

A second reason why liberals sneer at hunting is that it takes place outside of the city. Back in November 2004, the most interesting red-blue election map was the one that reflected voting patterns, not by state but by county. It revealed that while Kerry won in most cities, George W. Bush owned the surrounding areas. Even Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City are surrounded by conservative country where worship is more important than entertainment. Yes, liberals tend to be city-dwellers and they don’t trust the people out there in Wal-Mart country. In fact, they fear them as one always fears the unknown. This was the genius of the 1972 movie “Deliverance,” which terrified city audiences by telling of back-country brutes with bad teeth. . . . . . .

Probe finds terrorists in U.S. ‘training for war’

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 7:31 pm

It’s reports like this that make me think not much has really changed since 9/11. It’s possible the feds are fully aware of these training camps and aren’t taking action because the camps are an intelligence source, but it’s creepy just knowing that there are jihadists training for war right here in America. How long before we learn first hand what it’s like to be Israel.

The Pakistani terrorist group Jamaat ul Fuqra is using Islamic schools in the United States as training facilities, confirms a joint investigative report by an intelligence think tank and an independent reporter.

A covert visit to an encampment in the Catskill Mountains near Hancock, N.Y., called “Islamberg” found neighboring residents deeply concerned about military-style training taking place there but frustrated by the lack of attention from federal authorities, said the report by the Northeast Intelligence Network, which worked with an Internet blogger, “CP,” to publish an interim report.

The neighbors interviewed, who asked not to be identified, said they feared retaliation if they were to make a report to law enforcement officials.

“We see children – small children run around over there when they should be in school,” one neighbor said. “We hear bursts of gunfire all of the time, and we know that there is military-like training going on there. Those people are armed and dangerous.” . . . . .

Clinton in Pakistan: Convict cartoon publishers

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 4:51 pm

Ex-President Bill Clinton agrees with the Jihadists. He is calling for the cartoonists who offended Muslims (something almost impossible to avoid these days) to be convicted and punished for drawing their cartoons. He also believes the press should not be able to say anything offensive about religious people or their beliefs. I don’t think Clinton thought this through very well. If he truly feels this way, then he and his wife will have to stop insulting the “religious right” and the “Christian fundamentalists” he blames for so many vast rightwing conspiracies.

There’s so much hypocrisy in his sudden concern for religion, it’s impossible to address each point without writing a book. For example, I don’t remember Clinton calling for the conviction and punishment of the artist who created a Virgin Mary made out of dung. When an artist created a picture of Clinton as God Himself and offended Christians across the United States, I don’t remember Clinton calling for the artist to be convicted and punished.

Clinton has no problem offending religious people, as long as we don’t offend terrorists, murderers, and Jihadists.

Former President Bill Clinton today called for the conviction of European papers that published satirical cartoons of Muhammad, according to reports in the Islamic press and elsewhere.

Clinton condemned the publication of the caricatures by European newspapers and urged countries concerned to convict the publishers, according to the reports.

He said religious convictions of the people should be respected at all costs and no media should be allowed to play with the religious sentiments of people of any faith.

“I strongly disagree with the creation and publication of cartoons that are considered blasphemous by the Muslims around the world,” he said. “I thought it was a mistake.”

Talking to reporters after meeting Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad, Clinton said he disagreed with the caricatures and that the publication was against religious and ethical norms. Clinton said he had no objection to peaceful demonstrations, but condemned the violent response. He said it was the time to promote inter-faith harmony and stand together on the issue.

He said the people’s religious convictions should be respected at all costs and that media should not be permitted to criticize other faiths. He said the media could criticize any issue including governments and people, but nobody had the right to play with the sentiments of other faiths.

If religious convictions should be respected at all costs, does that mean my deeply held religious beliefs on gay marriage and abortion should be respected as well? Didn’t think so.

    3rd intifada on its way

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 1:14 pm

Those land give-aways are still working out great. Israel will soon be ceding more territory, and moving the Palestinian terrorists closer to major Israeli cities, just in time for the 3rd intifada. With campaigning behind them, Hamas and Fata have a bunch of time on their hands. What better way to spend your spare time when you’re a blood thirsty terrorist than to launch an intifada and kill more innocent civilians. The Israeli government’s strategy must be to eventually have only 3 Jews left and 3 square feet of territory to defend. I find it hard to believe that Olmert couldn’t have predicted this. The second intifada got them Gaza, a complete pass on any of their obligations under the Road Map, and more sympathy from the international community. Of course they’re going to stick with what works.

With Hamas now in power, the long-ruling Fatah party and its “military wing” Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades forced into the opposition, and Israel announcing it will soon withdraw from the West Bank, Palestinian terror leaders tell WorldNetDaily recent events here are leading them to launch what they call a third intifada – or violent confrontation – against Israel consisting of suicide bombings, rocket attacks against Jewish communities and “a few new surprises in our arsenal.”

Some terror leaders, particularly from the Al Aqsa Brigades, whose associated Fatah party scored poorly in last month’s parliamentary elections, say they are planning massive violence against Israeli civilians mostly to revolt against the new Hamas-controlled Palestinian government.

Well, that makes sense. When your own people vote you out of power and a competing terror group takes over, the natural response would be to slaughter Jewish civilians. Animals.

Cleric: $1 Million to Kill Cartoonist

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 12:29 pm

Muslims continue to over react because of a few stupid cartoons. Muslim imams in Pakistan are salivating over the opportunity to continue killing people in the name of Islam. They’ve announced a one million dollar award for whoever murders the Danish cartoonists who drew pictures of their prophet. (I refuse to call him “the prophet Muhammad” as the media does, as if he really is a prophet) They must have run out of 8 year old boys to kill.

A Pakistani cleric announced Friday a $1 million bounty for killing a cartoonist who drew Prophet Muhammad, as thousands joined street protests and Denmark temporarily closed its embassy and advised its citizens to leave the country.

Police confined the former leader of an Islamic militant group to his home to prevent him from addressing supporters over the cartoons, amid fears he could incite violence, after riots this week killed five people.

Security forces were out in strength, particularly around government offices and Western businesses, as Muslims streamed onto the streets after Friday prayers. More than 200 people were detained, but most gatherings were peaceful.

Right, the “gatherings” were peaceful. . . .except for the signs calling for mass murder and the extermination of all Westerners. At least AP is now occasionally calling these “gatherings” riots.

In neighboring India, police used batons and tear gas to disperse thousands of angry worshippers who rioted in the southern city of Hyderabad. They burned Danish flags, pelted police with stones, and looted shops. Hundreds more protested in Bangladesh.

In the northwestern Pakistan city of Peshawar, prayer leader Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi announced the bounty for killing a cartoonist to about 1,000 people outside the Mohabat Khan mosque.

Qureshi said the mosque and his religious school would give $25,000 and a car, while a local jewelers’ association would give another $1 million. No representative of the association was available to confirm it had made the offer.

“This is a unanimous decision by all imams (prayer leaders) of Islam that whoever insults the prophet deserves to be killed and whoever will take this insulting man to his end, will get this prize,” Qureshi said.

hmmmmm. . . .that just doesn’t sound so peaceful to me.

NY School District Recognizes Christian Club…Finally

Filed under: — Ben Rast @ 9:10 pm

The Federal Equal Access Act has been on the books for more than 20 years. This law prohibits schools from discriminating against groups based on viewpoint. For instance, if secular student clubs are allowed at a school, then Christian clubs must be afforded the same access. Unfortunately, many of those entrusted with educating our children are ignorant of the Equal Access Act and the actual content of the constitution. A school district in Schenectady, New York, had refused to formally recognize and allow a Christian student club. Fortunately, a letter from the Alliance Defense Fund resulted in a change of heart.

A religious liberties group confirms that a New York high school has ended its three-year campaign of discrimination against a Christian student club. Earlier this month, officials with the Schenectady City School District (SCSD) finally authorized the presence of the Christian Alliance on the Schenectady High School campus.

The move came after the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) sent a letter to the school, warning that if the equal access rights of Christian students were not respected, a lawsuit would follow. ADF affiliated lawyer Gary McCaleb says the victory has been a long time coming.

“What’s bad about this,” McCaleb notes, “is that for three years Christians didn’t have full rights. They weren’t even sitting in the back of the bus; they couldn’t get on the school club bus, so to speak. And that’s just plain, flat wrong.”

The ADF attorney points out that the Federal Equal Access Act, which guarantees voluntary, student-initiated and student-led organizations equal rights on school campuses, equal treatment by school employees, and equal access to school facilities, has been “in play” for more than 20 years. “School officials really ought to know better by now,” he says.

Schenectady High School officials had argued in this case that the Christian Alliance would have violated the so-called separation of church and state and that approving the faith-based group would be an unconstitutional endorsement of religion. However, the school had an apparent change of heart after the ADF threatened legal action.

Now, McCaleb says, the school has granted the Christian Alliance the same privileges offered to other student groups. “That would include use of the [public address system] for announcing club meetings and stuff,” he notes. “Now, under the law, that doesn’t include doing club business; but, certainly, if they are allowing other clubs to issue announcements over the PA system, that includes the Christian club.”

It’s sad that it requires threats of legal action for the rights of Christians to be recognized, but at least this school didn’t wait for a lawsuit to catch a clue.

    Saddam general: WMDs in Syria

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 6:52 pm

First, I’d like to apologize for not blogging for several days. Ben and I have been very sick and basically had to check out for a while to recover. We’re not completely well yet, but are finally feeling well enough to get back to work. With that said, on to the news.

How much evidence will it take before someone in our government addresses the WMD that were likely transported to Syria before that Iraq war? More than one top official close to Saddam have admitted that Iraq’s WMD were transferred to Syria, yet the Bush administration continues to allow the Left to beat the “no WMD” drum. Several people have also testified to Saddam’s connections with Al Qaeda, and now a former Iraqi general and friend of Saddam’s is providing an even more detailed description of those ties.

I know the media makes it difficult for Bush to get anything but phony scandals in the news, but Bush could force this issue onto the front pages any time he wants to. Why isn’t he?

A former general and friend of Saddam Hussein who defected but maintains close contact with Iraq claims the regime supported al-Qaida with intelligence, finances and munitions and believes weapons of mass destruction are hidden in Syria.

Ali Ibrahim al-Tikriti, southern regional commander for Saddam Hussein’s Fedayeen militia in the late 1980s, spoke with Ryan Mauro of WorldThreats.com.

Known as the “Butcher of Basra,” al-Tikriti commanded units that dealt with chemical and biological weapons. He defected shortly before the Gulf War in 1991.

Last month, Saddam Hussein’s No. 2 Air Force officer, Georges Sada, told the New York Sun Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction were moved to Syria six weeks before the war started. Sada claimed two Iraqi Airways Boeing jets converted to cargo planes moved the weapons in a total of 56 flights. They attracted little attention, he said, because they were thought to be civilian flights providing relief from Iraq to Syria, which had suffered a flood after a dam collapse in 2002.

Discussing Saddam’s support of terrorism, al-Tikriti said the dictator’s regime sponsored Palestinian groups with logistical and material support.

For a time, support for al-Qaida was limited, the former general said, mainly because al-Qaida’s aim was to create an Islamic empire while Saddam wanted a secular Arab nationalist empire.

“They only really came to terms in the mid ’90s due to the fact that both knew they shared the same short-term enemy,” the general said. “Once they came to terms on this, Saddam provided al-Qaida with intelligence support and whatever money or munitions they could provide.”

Don’t look for the MSM to report any of this, or for the liberals to give up thier WMD meme.

For more coverage of the intelligence meeting in Arlington where more evidence on Sadam’s WMD is to be revealed, check out Pajamas Media’s WMD files.

U.N. Says Guantanamo Detainees Were Tortured

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 9:59 pm

The U.N. is trying to start another torture scandal based on the claims of an Al Qaeda operative’s lawyer. Naturally, the U.N. is eager to believe their Al Qaeda allies over the United States government. So, how were these poor terrorists tortured this time? They were forced to eat in order to prevent starvation when they went on hunger strikes. I guess the military should have let them die of starvation and that would have satisfied the U.N. The problems seen in third world countries where there’s a U.N. peacekeeping presence are starting to make sense. It’s much better to let people starve to death.

The poor mass murderers were also left in solitary confinement too long. Now THAT’s tragic. Solitary confinement is used in prisons all over the United States and throughout the Middle East and the rest of the world, but the U.N. doesn’t call that torture. In fact, I don’t remember the U.N. making much of an issue out of Sadam Hussein’s torture chambers. I guess torturing, raping, and murdering innocent Iraqis is acceptable, but it’s definitely too harsh for an innocent terrorist to be in a prison cell all by himself for too long. He might get escared and suffer mental stress. It’s far better to let the terrorists go and shut down the prison so that the rest of us can suffer mental stress when they start blowing up our markets, schools, and public places.

A U.N. investigation has concluded that the United States committed acts amounting to torture at Guantanamo Bay, including force-feeding detainees and subjecting them to prolonged solitary confinement, according to a draft report obtained Monday.

U.S. officials rejected the report, saying it was riddled with errors and treated statements from detainees’ lawyers as fact.

The report from five U.N. human rights experts also recommended the United States close Guantanamo Bay and revoke all special interrogation techniques authorized by the Department of Defense.

It accused the United States of violating the detainees’ rights to a fair trial, to freedom of religion and to health.

The detainees at Guantanimo are each given a Koran and special effort was made to accommodate their religious customs. This has been widely reported. They must be referring to the terrorists’ loss of freedom to wage Jihad. The U.S. is denying these poor people their doe-eyed virgins. The horrors!

“The apparent attempts by the U.S. administration to reinterpret certain interrogation techniques as not reaching the threshold of torture in the framework of the struggle against terrorism are of utmost concern,” the draft report said.

The draft report, which follows repeated claims by prisoners at Guantanamo Bay that they have been mistreated or denied their rights, was delivered to the United States on Jan. 16. It was first disclosed Sunday by the Los Angeles Times.

American officials said the most significant flaw of the report was that it judged U.S. treatment of detainees according to peacetime human rights laws. The United States contends it is in a state of conflict and should be judged according to the laws of war.

Basically, the U.N. human rights nuts judged Guantanimo as if it were a regular prison and there is no war going on. Did they not get the memo that we’re fighting a war on terror?

    Christians blamed for ‘gay’-bar rampage

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 9:21 am

Grab your tin foil hats, the moonbats have a new conspiracy theory. A homosexual activist group is claiming that Christians are responsible for the rampage of an 18 year old man in Massachusetts through a gay bar where people were seriously injured. You might be wondering how the group makes this connection. Well, the 18 year old being charged with attempted murder had a swastika tattoo and had Neo-Nazi and white supremacist materials in his home, so obviously he was taught all these things by James Dobson and Focus on the Family.

I get so tired of this kind of moronic thinking. There’s about as much connection between a white supremacist and James Dobson as there is a connection between Hitler and Mother Theresa. It’s a common liberal tactic, though. If someone doesn’t agree with them on gay marriage, they accuse them of taking away gay’s civil liberties, encouraging murder and violence, and inciting hate crimes. The tin foil hat crowd can always count on the media to repeat their insane conspiracy theories, and never point out that those being accused would never condone, promote, or encourage the kind of behavior they accuse them of engaging in. Sadly, people will believe it, not because it makes any sense or there is any proof that Christians believe in murdering or injuring people they disagree with, but because they hate Christians and they want to believe it. THEY are guilty of the hatred and discrimination they accuse us of. But, they’re also blind and no longer see a difference between good and evil. That’s why they will always make excuses for Muslims who actually ARE rioting, killing, and blowing things up in countries all over the world.

A leading homosexual activist group is blaming a deranged teenager’s violent rampage through a “gay” bar in Massachusetts on “hatred and loathing” fueled by Christian groups and leaders such as James Dobson.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Executive Director Matt Foreman noted the Feb. 2 attack by 18-year-old Jacob Robida in a press release that day. Robida – who sports a swastika tattoo and had Neo-Nazi and white supremecist materials in his home – was charged with attempted murder for a hatchet and gun attack that left three men wounded in New Bedford, Mass.

“The hatred and loathing fueling this morning’s vicious attack on gay men in New Bedford is not innate, it is learned,” Foreman contended. “And who is teaching it? Leaders of the so-called Christian right, that’s who. Individuals like James Dobson of Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins, the Rev. Pat Robertson and their ilk are obsessed with homosexuality.”

Foreman asserted these leaders “use their vast resources, media networks and affiliated pulpits to blame lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people for all the ills of society.”

“They disguise their hatred as ‘deeply held religious beliefs,’” he claimed.

Foreman also complained of “vicious” opposition to homosexual-rights activists and “hate-filled rantings” by the leaders of two Massachusetts groups, Brian Camenker of the Article 8 Alliance and Ed Pawlick of MassNews.

“The blood spilled this morning is on their hands,” Foreman charged.

Article 8 Alliance responded: “It’s now becoming clear that homosexual activist groups intend to use this incident as a springboard for a vicious and cowardly series of attacks on anyone who publicly criticizes the homosexual movement – similar to what happened after the Matthew Shepard incident.”

“Today” show anchor Katie Couric famously brought up Dobson’s Focus on the Family in an Oct. 12, 1998, interview with then-Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer about Shepard, whose murder was believed to be an “anti-gay” hate crime – a charge recently debunked in an investigation by ABC’s “20/20.”

We Submit! A World of Surrender Monkeys

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 2:23 am

The world, including the U.S., can no longer make fun of the French. European nations, Africa, Canada, President Bush to a lesser extent, and several other countries have sent a message to the rampaging Muslims of the world. We surrender and submit. Here’s a round-up of the submission to Islam:

A voluntary vow of censorship from the EU.

Franco Frattini, the European Union commissioner for justice, freedom and security, revealed the idea for a code of conduct in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. Mr. Frattini, a former Italian foreign minister, said the EU faced the “very real problem” of trying to reconcile “two fundamental freedoms, the freedom of expression and the freedom of religion”.

Millions of European Muslims felt “humiliated” by the publication of cartoons of Mohammed, he added, calling on journalists and media chiefs to accept that “the exercising of a right is always the assumption of a responsibility”. He appealed to European media to agree to “self-regulate”.

Accepting such self-regulation would send an important political message to the Muslim world, Mr Frattini said.

By agreeing to a charter “the press will give the Muslim world the message: we are aware of the consequences of exercising the right of free expression, we can and we are ready to self-regulate that right”, he said.

Basically, a new freedom, the freedom from being humiliated or offended, is created, and that negates any right to freedom of speech and expression. We’re free people as long as Islam doesn’t get upset. That’s pretty scary considering Islam is a religion that advocates cutting peoples hands off, beheading infidels, and killing Jews and Christians. What I find most perplexing about this surrender from liberal governments is that most women in these countries obviously have no problem with it. Islam is also a religion that won’t allow women to drive in Islamic countries, forces women to walk 10 paces behind men, gives women no rights in marriage or divorce, and allows mercy killings if a woman is unfortunate enough to be raped. This is the religion that is now being allowed to dictate what our freedoms are and how they will be regulated.

Malaysia shuts down newspaper for printing cartoons

The Malaysian government shut down on Thursday a local newspaper after it published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, the official Bernama news agency said. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who is also the internal security minister, ordered the indefinite shutdown of The Sarawak Tribune with immediate effect, Bernama said. “Internal Security Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today ordered Sarawak Tribune’s publication permit to be suspended indefinitely with immediate effect for reproducing controversial caricatures of Prophet Mohammed on February 4,” it said.

Even the POSSESSION of the cartoons was banned in Malaysia.

Yemen shut down a newspaper for printing the cartoons, and issued a warrant for the editor’s arrest.

South African courts outlawed the cartoons, effectively eliminating freedom of the press in that country. Apparently, the Muslim Judicial Council is now making the rules in South Africa.

The South African Freedom of Expression Institute says a judgment by the Johannesburg High Court which prevents the publishing of cartoons found offensive by the Muslim community is a major threat to press freedom. The Freedom of Expression Institute argues that while the cartoon should not be published, that decision should be made by newspaper editors not the courts.

The Muslim Judicial Council applied to the High Court for an interdict to prevent two of South Africa’s largest media houses publishing the offensive cartoons.

Ukraine apologized to Muslims for offending them.

Poland apologized for reprinting the cartoons.

A university in Canada reprinted the cartoons in the schools newspaper, and campus police promptly confiscated all 2,000 copies.

Sweden is shutting down websites that reprint the cartoons. Islam was able to do in Sweden what the U.N., China, Iran, and other oppressive governments haven’t been able to do – end freedom of speech on the internet.

Of course, Koffi and the U.N. criticized the evil cartoons and called on everyone to be sensitive and submit to Islam’s will for us.

While President Bush did condemn the riots, he also condemned the media and suggested they have a responsibility to be thoughtful and considerate. In other words their freedom of speech comes with limits, and those limits are set by people who threaten to kill you every time they are offended.

Lebanon formed a committee to monitor all “hostile campaigns” against Islam.

Singapore won’t allow the publication of things that might offend Muslims. Singapore’s prime minister believes “racial harmony is a higher priority than freedom of expression”. How many more freedoms will be given up in the name of racial harmony?

Mark my words. The internet will be next. When riots begin over websites that have offended the Muslims of the world, the filtering and censorship of the internet will begin. Now that the Islamists know rioting works, they can bring Shariah to all of us riot by riot.

Danger? Drabness? No Date? Iraqis Find an Outlet Online

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:51 pm

In a country where people were once tortured or killed for simply saying the wrong thing to the wrong person, people are now surfing the internet, sending e-mail, and running their own political blogs. Iraqis are experiencing the internet – the last place on this earth where we still have real freedom of speech. . . . for now.

You’ll have to wade through the New York Times incessant pessimism and anti-war bias, but it’s good to see Iraqis enjoying some new freedoms.

On a recent rainy afternoon, Ahmad Nader Ali sat in a booth at the ShreifiNet Cafe, sending instant messages to his brother who lives in Finland on one screen window and his fiancée, Nour, on another. A tiny Web camera sat atop the computer, beaming live images of him to Nour’s home screen across Baghdad.

“Because of the situation, I’m not able to go and see her often,” said Mr. Ali, a confident 20-year-old with slicked-back hair who runs a men’s clothing store. “Everybody does it like this.”

Nearby, partially hidden by wood-paneled booths, were a dozen other young men staring intently at their screens, most chatting simultaneously on three or four different e-mail accounts. All of them were paying 1,500 dinars an hour — about a dollar — to escape the gray confines of Baghdad’s blasted walls for a while. Two heavyset men sat on a black faux-leather couch by the door, keeping a watchful eye on the street.

Three years ago, the Internet was virtually unknown in Iraq. Today, Baghdad has dozens of Internet cafes like ShreifiNet, which consists of three sparely decorated rooms with a total of 34 computers and a satellite dish on the roof. Most of the cafes also transmit wireless services to home Internet users in the surrounding area for a monthly fee; in parts of central Baghdad there are about 20 overlapping wireless networks.

The universal hunger to get online has made computer and Web services one of the few bright spots in Iraq’s stagnant economy. On Sinaa Street, the two-lane thoroughfare in central Baghdad lined with computer and software stores, business is brisk. Companies that install wireless networks and satellite dishes are also thriving, despite the irritation caused by frequent power failures. So are many Internet cafes.

“I have to work to persuade people to come to my clothes shop,” Mr. Ali said. “But you don’t need to advertise to tempt customers to come in here.”

Few people on earth have more incentive to communicate online (and indoors) than Iraqis, who risk their lives every time they go out for a quart of milk. The Internet can also be a way to get around the rising Islamization of everyday life. Young people caught flirting on the street even in Baghdad are sometimes chastised or even beaten by self-proclaimed Islamists, but no one can stop them on the Web. “If you look at the chat rooms, it is mostly young guys and girls,” Mr. Ali said.

Unfortunately, anywhere there is Islam, there will be human rights abuses and a loss of freedom. Let’s hope, in this case, the Iraqis’ new government will be able to protect them from the radical Islamists.

EU mulls media code after cartoon protests

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 8:15 pm

The EU is giving the rioting, murdering Muslims what they want. . . .again. In response to death threats, threats of terrorism, burned down embassies and government buildings, and several deaths, the EU will get rid of their free press and tradition of freedom of speech to be replaced with the beginning of Shariah law in Europe. Muslims have seen terrorism rewarded in Israel and now in Europe, so we can expect the riots, hostages, mass murder, and bombings to continue. Bit by bit, and just as they planned, the Islamification of non-Muslim countries is succeeding.

    This quote says it all:

“The press will give the Muslim world the message: We are aware of the consequences of exercising the right of free expression,” he told the newspaper. “We can and we are ready to self-regulate that right.”

They are ready to submit to Islam and throw themselves headlong into Dhimmitude.

There has been one set back in the Imam’s plans for the world, however. The Danish aren’t so willing to roll over and take it. Their public schools will no longer be serving meals to students that are sensitive to the needs of Muslims. All they got for their tolerance were riots and terrorism anyway, so I don’t blame them.

Buy Danish! The buy Danish campaign is working! I had Havarti cheese and crackers tonight in support of Denmark.

Students in the Copenhagen council schools shall no longer be denied the choice of pork when they buy their daily hot lunch in the school’s canteen.

Out of consideration to pupils with a moslem background there is presently only halal-butchered meat – and no pork at all – in the daily hot meals which are offered at a price of 15 kroner (appr. 2,35 US $) in the canteens of the 49 schools run by the council of Copenhagen.

A political majority in the council’s committee for children and youngsters now demand that porkchops and meatballs be introduced on the menu.

“We need to see more freedom of choice in the canteens. It’s fine with me that the ethnic minorities can have halal-meat but those who want pork should find it available. When it comes to food there are many minorities and they should all be accomodated”, says Jan Andreasen, spokesman on educational issues for the [ruling] Social Democrats.

    Go Denmark!

U.N., EU to apologize to Islam for cartoons

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 7:08 pm

It was inevitable that the U.N. and E.U. would cave in to the rampaging Muslims and reward their deadly temper tantrum with an apology and a resolution against freedom of speech. Their joint statement condemns the Danish newspaper that published the offending cartoons for exercising their freedom of speech and, as if that weren’t enough of an infringement on peoples freedom to express themselves, they condemned any speech that desecrates religion. I’m sure that doesn’t apply to Arab Newspapers, the Hamas charter, and the Quran itself, all of which promote killing people of other faiths and call Jews monkeys and pigs. Now we can count on Muslims to riot, kill, and set things on fire every time they’re the least bit offended. They now know it works.

The United Nations and European Union have reached agreement to issue a joint statement condemning cartoon “insults to Islam” that were first published in a Danish newspaper and have been widely reprinted recently, resulting in a rash of violence throughout the Muslim world.

According to a report in WAM, the United Arab Emirates news agency, the agreement is the work of Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Conference.

The agreement, according to Ihsanoglu, will mean a formal rebuke by the U.N. and EU of the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten for publishing the offensive cartoons.

The statement, he added, stresses that divine religions and religious symbols must be respected, and that freedom of speech must not be taken so far as to desecrate religions.

“The statement also calls for renouncing all forms of violence,” he said, according to WAM.

Quran Desecration Causes Another Muslim Rampage

Filed under: — Jennifer Rast @ 6:45 pm

Here we go again. A Quran was found in a drain outside of Pakistan’s largest city and it sent Pakistani Muslims into another rage. They had no idea how the books got there, but it was enough to set them off anyway. They burned down two cinemas, attacked their fellow Muslims in a poor neighborhood, and set cars on fire. I hope people are watching. These are ordinary, “moderate” Muslims going into fits of rage every time they are offended. This is Islam, and it’s what we have to look forward to in the U.S. if we cave in to their whining and rampaging.

If you need more evidence that Islam is NOT a religion of peace, consider the Muslim holiday of Ashoura that was celebrated in much of the Muslim world today. If you heard the holiday celebrations mentioned in the MSM today, you probably heard that Muslims were celebrating and “enjoying the festivities”, but, did you hear what those festivities are? In celebration of the Shiite Imam Hussein’s martyrdom, Muslims gather and engage in self mutilation. That’s right. They cut themselves, rip open their flesh, and generally get bloody. Little children are subjected to this as well, and can be seen covered in blood among the crowd. Pictures of the “festivities” can be seen here, here, here, and here (hat tip LGF). At least 3,000 protesters enraged by the alleged desecration of the Koran clashed with police and torched two cinemas in Pakistan’s second largest city Lahore, police said on Wednesday.

The city, was tense after the mob rampaged through a poor neighbourhood overnight and also smashed up dozens of vehicles, local police officer Mohammad Abbas said.

The trouble erupted late on Tuesday when copies of the Muslim holy book were found lying in a drain in the Bhatta chowk area on the fringes of the sprawling city.

“The news of the desecration of the Koran spread quickly in the neighbourhood and within no time some three to four thousand people took to the streets shouting slogans against the desecration,” Abbas said.
